Merritt is in her fifth year as the head coach of the mens and womens tennis teams at LeTourneau University. For the last three seasons, the LeTourneau mens and womens programs have each reached the American Southwest Conference Tournament. In 2015-16, on the men's side, the No. 1 doubles team of Michael McLaughlin and Morgan Weaver earned second team all-ASC East Division. McLaughlin and Weaver wrapped up their careers among the best in school history in career wins in both singles and doubles. The team also received the conference Sportsmanship Award. Six members of the mens tennis team earned Academic All-ASC and three did on the womens side. Both the men's and women's tennis teams were recognized as ITA All-Academic Team and six YellowJackets were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athlete recipients. LETU was one of just two schools in the American Southwest Conference to have both teams recognized. In 2014-15, LeTourneau newcomers Robbie Bundy and Kristen Ladner made an immediate impact. Bundy was named the American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year.  He is the fourth YellowJacket to earn the honor. Ladner was only the second player in program history named all-ASC. Morgan Weaver of the mens tennis team was named as the R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award recipient and Sindre Johnsgaard of the mens tennis team shared the Male Athlete of the Year Award. Also, in 2014, five members of the mens team and five more on the womens team earned all-ASC honors. Both the mens and womens teams were recognized by the ASC as the SAAC Sportsmanship Award recipient. For the women, it was their second honor in three years. In addition, the mens team defeated the University of Texas-Dallas for the first time since the 2010 season. The mens program also has been regionally-ranked by the ITA for the last three seasons. Sophomore Laird Beaty at No. 2 singles was the first player in school history to be named first team all-ASC. Merritt spent the 2012 season as an assistant coach, before being promoted to head coach prior to the 2013 season. In her first season at the helm of the programs, three women and three men each earned all-ASC East Division Team honors. The YellowJackets also have been recognized for their efforts in the classroom as eight men and six women were selected to the ASC All-Academic Team over the last two years. Merritt also serves on the regional ranking committee for ITA and the NCAA and continues to offer lessons as well as serve as an instructor at camps and clinics throughout the state.
