Mike Vucsko
Head Coach
Vucsko was named an assistant coach for the Lewis University baseball program in August 2014. Vucsko spent 2012 and 2013 as an assistant for Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Quincy University. The Hawks made the GLVC Tournament both seasons he was on the staff. Quincy advanced to the GLVC tournament championship in 2014. He earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership at Quincy. Prior to Quincy, he served as an assistant at Western Illinois University in 2012. He worked primarily with infielders and handled travel operations and arrangements for the Leathernecks. Vucsko started 160 games for the Flyers from 2008-11. For his career, he hit .286 and recorded a .389 on-base percentage. As a senior, he was named to the All-GLVC Third Team and earned American Baseball Coaches Association Midwest Region Gold Glove honors after committing just two errors in 170 chances for a team-best .988 fielding percentage. Vucskos 2011 squad won Lewis first GLVC Tournament game since 2002. Vucsko, an Evergreen Park, Ill. native, graduated from Marist High School. His family is no stranger to Lewis. His sister Michelle played softball for Lewis from 2010-13. Their father Kirk played basketball and baseball at Lewis in the 1980s.
