Kevin Eagle

Coach

Eagle took the Saints cross country team to new heights in a record setting 2014 season for the program. Both the men and women finished in third place at the Conference Carolinas cross country championships, a new best for both teams. Eagle also coached Limestones first ever USTFCCCA Academic All-American during the 2014 campaign. Also a member of the Limestone track and field coaching staff, several of Eagles cross country runners exceled during the 2014-15 track and field season where the men and women finished in second place at the Conference Carolinas championships during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. A former Limestone track & field and cross country athlete, Eagle returned to Gaffney, S.C. in August of 2013 following a highly successful year at Gillette College (Wy.) of the National Junior College Athletic Association.   During his time at Gillette, he was responsible for scheduling and managing meet arrangements that included all aspects of hotel, transportation, meals and practices as well as recruitment efforts for the program. Eagle also handled individualized daily workouts, managed the cross country and track & field budget and organized volunteer and fundraising opportunities for the programs.   Those efforts helped result in 21 NJCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field National Qualifiers, four track & field All-Americans, five cross country All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans and a pair of United States Track & Field Junior National Qualifiers in just one year. In addition to his duties with those teams, Eagle also served as an Associate Professor of Physical Education & Health Science and the schools Sports Information Director.   Prior to joining Gillette, he was a volunteer assistant coach with the Limestone track & field and cross country programs from May 2010 through May 2012. During that time he assisted with the coaching of the mid-distance and distance runners, produced daily workouts based on the student-athletes event(s) and worked closely with the coaching staff to enhance the program at a team and individual level.   Among the accomplishments with the Saints over that period were Conference Carolinas Track & Field Runner-Up finishes for the women in 2011 and 2012 and for the men in 2011. Limestone also produced three cross country Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference performers along with an Academic All-American and three cross country All-Region honorees.   As a member of the Saints cross country and track & field programs, Eagle produced impressive performances of his own. At the time of his graduation he held six track & field team records that ranged from the 800-meters to the 5,000-meters and earned three Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference honors. He also served as cross countrys team captain as a junior and senior and went on to qualify for the Boston Marathon.   A 2010 graduate of Limestone College, Eagle holds a Bachelors in Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration. He also earned a Masters in Sports Management-Intercollegiate from California University of Pennsylvania in 2012.   Kevin Eagle '10 Head Cross Country Coach/Assistant Track & Field Coach In just his first season at Limestone, head coach Kevin Eagle took the Saints cross country team to new heights in a record setting 2014 season for the program. Wassink joined Limestone track & field on August 11, 2012, bringing with him four years of coaching experience. Having joined the Saints just last year, Wassink has already had an impressive mark on the track programs, helping to lead the mens outdoor team to the first Conference Carolinas Championship in program history and the mens indoor team to a runner-up performance in the first year the league sponsored that sport.   He has also helped Limestone produce exceptional individual student-athlete performances, with Jordan Manning becoming the first Saint to earn Outdoor Track & Field All-American honors in the high jump, tying for seventh nationally at a height of 2.10 meters, and also becoming the first to be named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.   Manning also joined with Khalil Henry in becoming the first members of the mens indoor program to qualify for NCAA Division II Nationals as they both competed in the high jump while   Luke Beasley and Jenny Altieri garnered major national awards as they earned CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American honors.   In all, from just one year with the program, Wassink coached the first All-American in program history, two Academic All-Americans, three national qualifiers and a total of 37 All-Conference Carolinas selections. For his efforts, he was named the USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year, becoming the first in team history to win be so honored.   Prior to coming to Gaffney, Wassink served as the assistant track & field coach at Wesleyan University from 2010-12 where he was responsible for coaching the sprinters and relay teams. While there he coached one student-athlete to a Division III New England Championship in the 60-meter sprint and six All-NESCAC honorees. Six of his student-athletes also set school records, breaking a total of seven during his tenure.   He also coached three Little 3 Champions in the mens 100- and 200-meter sprints and the womens 100-meter sprint while also being responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes.   Prior to his time at Wesleyan, Wassink was the track & field graduate assistant at Emporia State from 2007-09. Working with current Limestone head coach Cameron Babb, he coached six All-Americans (400m Hurdles, 4x100-meter relay and 200-meter sprint) and numerous indoor and outdoor MIAA Conference Champions. Under his watch, 15 student-athletes broke a total of seven school records and placed in the top five in the programs history for their events.   A member of Susquehannas track & field program from 2003-07, he competed in the NCAA Division III Championships in the 400-meter hurdles and was named Outstanding Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the Spring of 2005, Fall of 2006 and Spring of 2007.
