Derek Schaub

Head Coach

Schaub is entering his 16th season as a head coach at Lindenwood in 2016-17, including his fifth year as the mens golf head coach.   2015-16 was the best year for the mens golf program under Schaub. The Lions finished third in the final MIAA standings, including a second-place showing at the MIAA Championships. Lindenwood earned its second all-time bid to the NCAA Regionals, and it finished tied for ninth in that event. Ryan Dyck and Yente Van Doren were both all-MIAA selections, and Van Doren was also named the MIAA Freshman of the Year and was an all-region pick.   Academically, Ryan Dyck was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, and he was a MIAA Scholar-Athlete. Nine mens golfers were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, and Brad Currier and Justin Stacer were MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipients. In 2014-15, Lindenwood finished fourth in the MIAA standings for the second straight seasons. A young Lions squad that was almost entirely sophomores and freshmen had a strong finish to the season, including tying for first at the Illinois-Springfield Invitational and finishing third at the MIAA Championships. Schaub led one golfer to all-MIAA honors in Corbin Adams. Off the course, three golfers earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award, and eight were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.   In 2013-14, Schaub led Lindenwood to a NCAA Regional appearance in the programs first season of postseason eligibility. The Lions finished sixth at the regional tournament and came within 10 shots of advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships.   Lindenwood finished fourth in the MIAA standings and two golfers were named to the all-conference team. Ryan Dyck was the MIAA Freshman of the Year, and Jake Smock was also an all-conference selection. Greg MacAulay was named to the Ping All-Region team. MacAulay also earned Academic All-American honors for the second straight season, becoming the first Lindenwood athlete to win that honor multiple times. Nine golfers were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, Dyck was a MIAA Scholar-Athlete, and three golfers received the MIAA Academic Excellence Award.   In his first season as Lindenwood mens golf coach, Schaub helped the Lions finish fourth or better in seven of the ten tournaments that they played in. Lindenwood took first place in two tournaments, including the Lindenwood Fall Invitational which included every MIAA school. The Lions also won the Drury Pasta House Classic in the spring. Lindenwood finished third out of 12 teams at its first appearance at the MIAA Championship. Eric Isacsson and Oscar Isacsson both earned all-MIAA honors during the season and Eric was also named to the all-region team. Greg MacAulay was named a Capital One second-team Academic All-American and he also earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. Eric Isacsson was a MIAA Scholar-Athlete and a total of 10 mens golfers were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Schaub was the head coach of the mens lacrosse team in 2012 and 2013 as the program made the transition from the club to the NCAA Division II level. In 2013, Lindenwood went 8-5 overall and finished fifth in the ECAC with a 3-4 mark. Graeme Hossack was named to the all-ECAC first-team and Mike Meagher was a second-team all-conference selection. Carter McCracken was a Capital One Academic All-District selection and 17 Lions were named to the ECAC all-Academic team. In 2012, Lindenwoods first against a NCAA schedule, Schaub led the mens lacrosse team to a winning record at 8-7 and the Lions finished third in the WILA with a 4-4 conference mark. Lindenwood went 5-2 down the stretch including a victory over conference champion Colorado Mesa. Three of the teams losses came by just a single goal, including versus nationally-ranked Pfeiffer. Schaub coached eight players to all-conference honors in 2012, including first-team selections for Richard Wilson and Grame Hossack. Two others received second-team awards and four were named honorable mention. Schaub began the mens lacrosse program at Lindenwood in 2003 and was the head coach that first season. He led the Lions to an 8-0 conference record and a first-place finish in the GRLC Division B Tournament. In the championship game of that conference tournament, the Lions defeated Kansas State by a pair of goals, with the winning score coming with just 30 seconds left in the game. Among the players Schaub coached that year was Brian Smith who was named MVP of the GRLC Tournament. After coaching ice hockey for the next seven seasons, Schaub returned to lacrosse in 2011. He led Lindenwood to a 16-7 overall record, including a perfect 12-0 mark at Hunter Stadium. Lindenwood won its conference tournament and advanced to the MCLA National Tournament. Schaub has been a coach at Lindenwood since 2001-02, when he became the head coach of the Lindenwood roller hockey program. He had a 40-1-0 overall record in roller hockey and led Lindenwood to the 2002 and 2003 national championships. Those titles were the foundation for one of the schools most dominating programsroller hockey won eight national championships from 2002-2010. After starting mens lacrosse in 2003, Schaub began another program the next year when he became the head coach of the mens ice hockey team. Over its first seven years, the Lions went 217-57-3 under Schaub. The program appeared in three ACHA national championship games and won back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. Schaub is also an Assistant Athletics Director at Lindenwood in charge of working with outside organizations on the scheduling of Lindenwood facilities.

Ray Farnell

Head Coach

Ray Farnell is in his third year with the Lindenwood men's golf program in 2025-26. After spending the first two years as an assistant coach, he was named head coach in May of 2025.  In 2024-25, Farnell guided the Lions to a second place finish during stroke play at the OVC Tournament and Santiago Juesas was named to the All-OVC Newcomer Team for his play during the season.  During the 2023-24 season, the Lions captured the Lindenwood Invitational by 15 strokes. The Lions also took home a third place finish at the Carpenter-Chaney Classic in April. The black and gold had four student-athletes earn All-OVC accolades as Lindenwood concluded its season with a fifth-place finish at the OVC Championships.  Farnell came to Lindenwood after spending the last three years as the head golf professional at Whitmoor Country Club in Weldon Springs, Mo. During that time, he was the lead golf instructor and was responsible for directing all member tournaments and corporate events. Prior to his time at Whitmoor, Farnell was a caddie on the PGA Tour, participating in over 600 events and helping the likes of Harold Varner III, Ricky Barnes, Nathan Green, Kevin Sadler, Matt Jones, and Greg Kraft. Farnell competed on the PGA Tour Australasia/New South Wales Mazda Pro Am Circuit from 2000-2007. Farnell graduated in 1994 from Salesian College in Melbourne, Australia with a degree in general studies. He then went on to gain an Associates of Applied Studies from the PGA Australia Program in 1997.
