COACHING RESUME 2005-present (Loras College) Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach 2005-2013 (Loras College) Head Cross Country Coach (Lewis University) Head Cross Country Coach (Elmhurst College) Head Cross Country Coach EDUCATION Lewis University, 1991, B.S, HOMETOWN Elmhurst, IL Bob Schultz returned to Loras in 2005 to serve as the head men's and women's cross country and track and field coach. Prior to his role as head coach, Schultz was an assistant coach for the Duhawks from 1991-94. He earned his master's degree in physical education from Loras in 1994. Schultz is entering his 18th season as the Duhawks cross country coach. 2022 marked another successful season for Coach Schultz and the Loras Cross Country program. Women’s Cross Country finished 2nd in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), 4th in the Midwest Regional, and earned an at-large bid to Nationals where they finished 18th. Senior Kassie Parker finished 1st both at the A-R-C Cross Country Championships and the NCAA National Championship, finishing with a time of 21:06:50, earning All-American status. Parker was also named a the USTFCCCA Female Athlete of the Year and was a finalist for The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) DIII Honda Athlete of the Year. Brianna Renner and Kaylee Osterberger also finished with All-Conference Honors. On the Men’s side, Schultz led the Cross Country team to another successful season. The men finished 2nd at the A-R-C Championships, 3rd in the Midwest Regional, and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA National Championships where they finished 20th. Luke Guttormson, Wyatt Kelly, and Julian Watson finished with All-Conference honors. The women’s team saw tremendous success in 2021, led by Kassie Parker becoming the program’s first women’s cross country national champion and was named the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) and USTFCCCA Regional and National Athlete of the Year. She was also the program’s first women’s cross country USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete of the Year. She set the course record at the NCAA Division III National Championship in Louisville, Ky. (20:11.1) and set the school record earlier in the season, running 20:10.9. Parker also ran the school record for 5,000-meters in 17:41.94 at Luther College. The Duhawks posted a second-place team finish with two All-Conference performers at the conference meet, led by conference champion Parker and Ellie Osterberger finishing 15th, and placed fourth at the regional meet with Ellie Osterberger and Parker both collecting All-Region finishes. The Duhawks also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors with a team GPA of 3.54, earning the team award for the 27th-straight season. The men’s cross country team finished second at the A-R-C Championship with three runners earning All-Conference honors in Ryan Harvey, Luke Guttormson and Julian Watson. The Duhawks placed fifth at the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championship with four All-Region Runners in Harvey, Joey Schultz, Evan Jamrozy and Wyatt Kelly and secured an at-large bid to the national meet where they finished 29th. The Duhawks have won conference four of the past eight years, the NCAA Midwest Region Championship two of the past five seasons and qualified for the National Championships seven of the past ten seasons. After serving as Loras head track & field coach from 2005 to 2013, Schultz wisely passed on the reins of the program to Matt Jones who has led the Duhawks to three consecutive NCAA Division III outdoor track and field titles and the program's first indoor national championship in 2022. Schultz’s new role was assistant coach working with the middle distance and long distance runners. During his time as head coach, Schultz received a wide array of honors including the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (now the A-R-C) and NCAA Central Region Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2022 in men's indoor track and field. He has coached Parker to win three individual titles indoors and outdoors and and a total of 24 All-America honors in track and field. He led the men to the IIAC Indoor Championship in 2007, the Outdoor Championship in 2005 and two top-ten NCAA Indoor & Outdoor finishes. Schultz also led the women to a fifth place finish in 2007 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Loras Track & Field had a combined 60 All-Americans in men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field at Loras, including three NCAA Division III Champions during that nine-year period. Loras is Schultz's third different head coaching stop. He came to Dubuque from Lewis University in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, which is his alma mater and a power in NCAA Division II. Schultz spent three years coaching at Lewis, where he was the head men’s and women’s cross country and track coach. Schultz guided the Flyers to four Great Lakes Valley Conference titles in track and field and two in cross country. Schultz has also previously served as the head coach at Elmhurst College, an NCAA Division III school in his hometown of Elmhurst, Ill. There, he headed the cross country and track and field programs for eight years. Under Schultz’s leadership, the women’s cross country team went from last in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) when Schultz arrived to CCIW Conference champions and finished seventh at the National Championships in his final season. The men’s program showed significant improvement as well moving up from last in the CCIW to second in that same eight year period. Schultz completed his undergraduate degree from Lewis University in 1991 after a successful career as student-athlete. He was an All-Conference runner in cross country and was a varsity member of Lewis' first NCAA Championship Qualifying team in 1988. In high school, Schultz ran for national powerhouse, York, where he was a varsity member of the 1986 IHSA State Championship Team. Schultz and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents of two sons who have run and currently run for the Duhawks, Joey ('22) and Justin (’24). They reside in Dubuque.

Rebecca Stier
Assistant Coach
Stier joined the Loras Track and Field staff for the 2015 season after being hired in November of 2014. Stier is a 2011 graduate of Winona State University where she earned her degree in professional studies with an emphasis in collegiate throwing. While at Winona State, Stier was a six-time NCAA Division II All-American in the weight throw (2009, 2010), shot put, (2010, Indoor/Outdoor 2011) and discus (2010). In addition, Stier owns the Winona State all-time shot put record with a distance of 15.55m. Her personal bests in the shot put, discus, hammer throw and weight throw all ranked in the top-10 in program history during her time at Winona State. Stier completed her masters degree in May of 2015 in physical education, coaching of sport from Southwest Minnesota State University. While at Southwest Minnesota State, she was a graduate assistant in the track and field program and worked with the throwers. In addition to her coaching at the collegiate level, Stier also worked at Grand Meadow Public Schools as a volleyball coach, assistant varsity basketball coach and assistant track and field coach for throwing.

Matt Jones

Jones is a 2005 graduate of Loras College where he spent three seasons competing as a member of the track and field program. During his time at Loras, Jones earned All-American honors twice (2003 Outdoor T&F and 2004 Indoor T&F) and served as team captain his senior year. Since becoming a coach at Loras, Jones has helped coach 35 Iowa Conference Champions, dozens of NCAA Qualifers, 15 All-Americans and 10 Academic All-Americans. Additionally, under Jones' leadership, numerous school records have been broken, as well as IIAC Conference Meet records being held. Jones has also coached 2 Conference MVPs in his tenure (2013, 2015). This past season the track & field program had Loras first ever Elite 90 recipient. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAAs 90 championships. The Loras women finished 22nd at the 2016 NCAA Track & Field Championships, the highest finish since 2007. Jones is a 2000 graduate of Davenport Assumption High School and was a three-sport athlete for the Knights, competing in cross country, track and field and baseball. Ethan Adlfinger

Ethan Adlfinger enters his second season as head coach of the Loras College cross country teams ahead of the 2025-26 year after spending the previous five years as an assistant under longtime former head coach Bob Schultz. Adlfinger joined the Duhawks in 2019 after serving as a graduate assistant coach for the men’s cross country and track and field programs at North Central College, focusing on recruiting efforts for the Cardinals. Since Adlfinger’s arrival, the Duhawks have had 24 student-athletes earn All-American status in the distance and middle distance events at the NCAA National Championships, with six having won national titles. In 2019, the Duhawks had three cross country national championship qualifiers in Kassie Parker, Audrey Miller and Luke Guttormson with All-America honors awarded to Parker (5th) and Miller (25th). The women’s 5K school record was also set during the 2020 cross country season by Parker (17:56). In 2023, Loras closed out the season No. 25 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associateion (USTFCCCA) rankings after the Purple and Gold finished 29th at the NCAA Championships. Adlfinger helped coach four Duhawks to All-Region status in Ryan Harvey, Julian Watson, Carlo Dannenfelseer, and Jacob Belha. Belha, Harvey, Watson, and Eric Rutherford each earned All-Conference nods at the At the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Championships following the team's third place finish. In 2021, Adlfinger helped coach Parker to win the national championship in cross country in 2021, the first in program history, and take the indoor titles in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs a the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship. He also worked with the men's and women's distance medley relays that claimed All-America honors and helped the teams to two podium finishes, including the women's first indoor national title. In his fourth season as the cross country assistant coach, Adlfinger helped lead the Duhawks to another successful season. The Women’s cross country team finished 2nd in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), 4th in the Midwest Regional, and 18th at the NCAA National Championship. Senior Kassie Parker was an A-R-C Champion and an NCAA National Champion. The Men’s team saw success as well, finishing 2nd in the A-R-C, 3rd in the Midwest Regional, and 20th at the NCAA National Championship. Both teams earned an at-large bid to the National Championship. The 2021 track & field season was highlighted with an American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) championship for the women’s program and the Loras coaching staff being named coaching staff of the year. The women went on to win the program’s second-straight NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field National Title two weeks later in Greensboro, NC. The women's program captured the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship title following the indoor conference title. In his career as a student-athlete and coach, Adlfinger has been a part of two national titles with the Duhawks and eight in his career. A former student-athlete for the legendary Al Carius, Adlfinger was a part of six team national titles and three podium finishes. He is a two-time All-American in cross country and track and field and ran on the 2016 cross country team that set and still holds the NCAA record for largest margin of victory. He was a three-time national qualifier for cross country, a two-time qualifier in the steeplechase and a member of the distance medley relay team that earned All-America accolades in 2017. Adlfinger currently holds the North Central freshman record in the steeplechase, running 9:15.60, and ranks third in program history in the same event (9:02.64). As a graduate assistant coach at North Central, Adlfinger helped lead the Cardinals to their 18th and 19th NCAA Division III men’s cross country national titles as well as the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field title. Adlfinger owns six United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic All-America honors and was an 11-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Academic award winner. He holds certifications in strength and conditioning and sprint, hurdles, and relays from the USTFCCCA and graduated from North Central in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a minor in coaching and master’s degree in sports leadership in 2019. Adlfinger currently resides in Dubuque with his wife, Emily, and their son, William.

Schultz was previously an assistant at Loras from 1991-1994 and earned his master's degree in physical education/athletic administration from Loras in 1994. Schultz recently completed his 11th season as the Duhawks' cross country coach. To open the 2015 season, Loras women won the Central College Invitational. The Duhawks ran to the top of the Iowa Conference claiming their first IIAC Championship in program history. For his teams finish, Schultz was named IIAC Womens Coach of the Year for the second time in the past three seasons. Loras put four runners in the top-10 to earn All-Conference honors. Senior Maggie Saenz Ruiz finished as conference runner-up, freshman Audrey Miller finished sixth, Senior Bri Cook finished seventh and junior Emily Day finished 10th. The Duhawks also had their highest finish at the NCAA Central Region Championships under Schultz, finishing fourth out of 30 teams and top among all Iowa teams. In addition to their success on the cross country course, the Loras womens cross country team earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors with a team GPA of 3.12. Men's cross country celebrated what was arguably the most successful season in program history. To open the season, Loras won the Central Dutch Invitational with a very low score of 21 points. The Duhawks went on the win the National Catholic Championships at the University of Notre Dame for the second consecutive year over a field that included NCAA Division II and NAIA scholarship programs. Loras captured its sixth conference championship in program history and second title in a row. As a result, Schultz was named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. At the NCAA Central Region Championships, Loras tied for second and qualified for the National Championships as a team for the third straight year. The Duhawks trip to Nationals was a huge success.
