Kurt Lupinski
Head Coach
Kurt Lupinski was named the head coach of Lower Columbia College Baseball in July of 2021. Initially, Lupinski joined the Red Devils as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in the Summer of 2017, however served a 2-year stint at Washington State University during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In his time at Lower Columbia, the Red Devils have totaled 5 NWAC West Region Titles and 2 NWAC Championships. His recruiting efforts prior to departing for Washington State also helped lead the Red Devils to 2 additional NWAC Championships in 2018 and 2019. Hired initially as recruiting coordinator and to work with hitters and catchers, Lupinski has worked with each facet of the program in his time as head coach. During the 2025-2026 Season, Lupinski works with the hitters, infielders, and coaches baserunning. In just 4 short years as head coach of the Red Devils, he has compiled over 162 wins, including 2 West Region Titles, and an NWAC Championship in 2023. Lupinski also guided his 2025 club to the most wins in Red Devil history and tied for most single-season wins in NWAC history. In his 4 years as Head Coach, Lupinski has helped produce 3 ABCA All-Region Gold Glove awards, 30 players with All-Region honors, and 15 All-NWAC players. In 2023 Coach Lupinski was honored as the ABCA Pacific Coast Coach of the year. Lupinski’s presence has been felt at Lower Columbia since his arrival in 2017. As the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach under previous Head Coaches Eddie Smith and Eric Lane, Lupinski routinely helped mentor one of the NWAC’s top offenses. In 2018 and 2019 Lupinski joined the coaching staff at Washington State University as a volunteer assistant coach. At WSU, he served a variety of roles including Camp Coordinator, and the clubs first base coach. Prior to Washington State University, Lupinski was at Lower Columbia as the club’s recruiting coordinator under Eddie Smith. From 2015-2016, Lupinski was the recruiting coordinator at Chemeketa Community College, in Salem Oregon. He helped the Storm make an NWAC Tournament appearance in 2016. Before his stint at Chemeketa CC, Lupinski spent 1 year at Oregon Tech University (NAIA), and 1 year at Chapman University (DIII). Lupinski got his start in coaching as a member of the undergraduate staff at Oregon State University. He credits much of what he has learned to Legendary Beaver Head Coach Pat Casey, and assistants Nate Yeskie and Pat Bailey. Former WSU Head Coach & OSU assistant Marty Lees, and (current Beaver Assistant Coach ) Ryan Gipson were also big influences on Coach Lupinski while they were at Oregon State together. Lupinski also has experience coaching and working for Baseball Northwest and served as a Coach for USA Baseball at the 2011 Identification Games in Cary, North Carolina. A native of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Lupinski attended Henley High School. “Coach Loop” was a huge contributor to a four-season stint where the program won 100 games including two state 3A titles. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Oregon State and has earned two master’s degrees, one in Coaching and Athletics Administration, and the other in Exercise Science through Concordia Irvine University. In addition to being the Head Coach of the Red Devils, Lupinski also serves as the David Story Field Manager. Coach Lupinski and his wife Ashley reside in Longview with their two sons- Bo, and Colt. He enjoys spending time with family as well as hiking, fishing, camping, and finding time to get on the golf course

Mike Callia
Assistant Coach
Coach Callia enters his 4th year back in Longview as an assistant under Head Coach Kurt Lupinski. Callia serves as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Callia also coordinates the Red Devil Baseball Strength Program, and works with the Catchers. In 2025, Callia guided Red Devil pitching to new heights, leading the NWAC in ERA (2.66) and WHIP (1.18). Their 2.66 ERA was good for 4th in the country across all of Junior College Baseball. Callia oversaw Matthew Kosderka tie the Red Devil’s single season save record (13), and earn first team All-NWAC, All-West Region and ABCA All Region honors. He saw the rest of his pitching staff honored as Chayse Oxborrow earned 1st team All-West region as well as 2nd Team All-West Kaden Harris, Quinn Hubbs and Ryan McClaskey. Coach Callia also earned himself NWAC West Region & All-NWAC Assistant Coach of the Year honors. In July of 2025, Callia saw former pitcher Jadon Williamson (2023) drafted in the 11th round by the Miami Marlins. In 2024, Red Devil Pitching continued to improve, posting a 2.89 Team ERA to go along with 417 Strikeouts. The Red Devil Pitching staff was led by 2nd Team All-NWAC, 1st Team All-West, and 2nd Team ABCA All-Region Owen Luchies, and 2nd Team All-West Hunter Lutman. In his first year back with the Red Devils in 2023, the pitching staff set marks with a team 3.28 ERA. After a 21-3 record in conference play Callia helped the Red Devils in route to a West Region Title and their 15th NWAC Championship. The LCC Pitching staff saw Mike Schwarz earn first team All West- Region honors as well as the All NWAC Tournament team alongside MVP Jadon Williamson. In the summer landscape- Callia has also spent 2 years as Pitching Coach for the Wenatchee Applesox of the West Coast League. In his first season with the club, he guided the AppleSox pitching staff to a 3.35 ERA, their lowest mark since 2012. In the summer of 2024, Callia helped lead the AppleSox to both first and second half titles, as well as their first North Division Championship since 2013. Their appearance in the WCL Title game also marked the organization’s first since 2013. The AppleSox were a combined 75-40 during his stretch with the club, and captured 2 playoff appearances. Under his guidance, the AppleSox Pitching staff produced 7 All-WCL Selections. Callia was also a key part in recruiting efforts during his time with the AppleSox. Callia started his coaching career in the Summer of 2022 with the Western Nebraska Pioneers where he helped lead them to the inaugural Independence League Championship. Callia's playing career consisted of time at both Lower Columbia College and West Texas A&M University. While at Lower Columbia, Callia was a part of the 2019 NWAC Championship team contributing 19 innings in relief for the Red Devils. In his Sophomore year, he helped lead the Red Devils to a 23-3 finish, tallying 32 innings. Callia spent the 2022 season at West Texas A&M University where he was sidelined due to injury. A Renton, Washington native, Callia graduated from Kentridge High School in 2018 where he was a two time All-League player for the Chargers. Callia graduated with his bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University in the Fall of 2021 Coach Callia lives in Longview with his longtime girlfriend Karsyn and dog Laney. Outside of baseball he enjoys golfing, enjoying the sun, and spending time with family and friends.
