Jody Gabriel
Head Coach
Jody Gabriel begins her 14th season as the Macalester College head softball coach in 2025. In 13 years at Macalester, Gabriel has 197 wins and is now 305-324-1 overall in her 17-year career. The Scots went 20-18 in Gabriel's initial season to post the school's first winning record since 1997 and wrap up the MIAC campaign with a 9-13 slate after winning just one conference game the year before. In 2017 she achieved a pair of milestones, earning her 200th win as a college coach and her 100th victory as the coach of the Scots. In 2024, Gabriel earned the 300th win of her career with a sweep of Carleton onApril 12, 2024. The milestone was a part of a special season for the Scots, as the team went 26-15 for the second-most wins in program history and qualified for the MIAC Playoffs for the first time since the conference began the playoff system in 2004. Prior to arriving at Macalester, Gabriel served as head coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for four years. She led UW-River Falls to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular-season (13-3) and playoff (4-0) championships in 2011 as the Falcons finished with a 28-15 overall record and a four-game appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs. UW-River Falls went 108-60 during her four seasons leading the program and never had a losing record in the competitive WIAC. Gabriel was selected 2011 WIAC Coach of the Year and her staff was named 2011 Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Wisconsin-River Falls was ranked No. 19 in the final national poll and went undefeated at home with a 14-0 record. Gabriel also taught full-time in the Hudson (Wis.) school district as a secondary social science instructor while coaching at UW-River Falls. Gabriel was an assistant coach with the Falcons for five seasons before serving as interim head coach. She also coached as an assistant for two years at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, where the Cardinals were co-MIAC champions in 2001 and placed second in 2002. She has also coached for various teams at the high school and traveling levels in the Twin Cities. Gabriel played collegiately at UW-River Falls from 1994-96. The 1994 team won the WIAC title and competed in the NCAA Division III playoffs. She earned her undergraduate degree in accounting in 1996 and her M.S.E. degree (social studies) from UW-River Falls in 2000. School Season W L T Pct. Kyllian Griffin
Head Coach
Kyllian Griffin became head coach of Macalester's men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs in the fall of 2018. He spent the previous four years as the head swim and dive coach and aquatics director at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Ill. During Griffin’s time at IIT, his athletes broke 13 school records, won 10 Liberal Arts Conference individual championships, received 38 All-Championship honors and posted four NCAA-qualifying B standard performances. He was also responsible for managing the college’s aquatics facility. Prior to coaching at IIT, Griffin was an assistant coach at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., for two years. He also spent two years as an assistant coach at Lawrence University, as well as one year as an assistant at Beloit College. A 2009 graduate of Lawrence, Griffin was a captain and two-time Midwest Conference champion for the Vikings’ swim team. An English major at Lawrence, Griffin went on to earn a Master’s of Education degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington in 2013. “I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to join the community at Macalester College,” Griffin said. “The swimming and diving program has strong traditions and great potential, and I am very excited to begin building and growing the team for the future. The student-athletes at Mac are passionate and driven, and I look forward to working alongside them to have the best academic and athletic experiences possible."

Pam Latterell
Assistant Coach
Pam Latterell returns to the Macalester coaching staff for her fourth season with the Scots. She spent eight seasons as an assistant softball coach at UW-River Falls. During her tenure at UW-River Falls, the Falcons won back-to-back WIAC titles in 2011 and 2012 and advanced to the NCAA playoffs both years. In 2012, Latterell and the Falcons’ coaching staff was selected the NFCA Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year. As a player, Latterell was a starter on the 1993 UW-River Falls squad that won the WIAC championship and a then-school-record 28 games. She also played three seasons at the College of St. Scholastica, where she earned NAIA All-American honors and made the all-conference team twice. After college, Latterell played in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League, now known as National Pro Fastpitch. A native of Foley, Minn., Latterell was inducted into the Foley High School Hall of Fame in 2004. Latterell graduated from UW-River Falls in 1993 with a degree in biology. She also earned dual Master's degrees in sports medicine and sports coaching from United States Sports Academy.

Britt Stewart
Assistant Coach
Britt Stewart joined the Macalester softball coaching staff as the Scots’ pitching coach in 2022. That year, the pitching staff earned a 9-13 MIAC record and the team finished tied for 7th place. Stewart has been working with players and primarily pitchers in the metro area and in southwest Minnesota for the last fifteen years. She spends her free time running youth clinics and individual lessons. Her passion is teaching the fundamentals of the game, life-lessons through sport, and developing confidence in young women. Stewart is also the current head coach at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School. Prior to Macalester, Stewart served as the head coach at Gustavus Adolphus College for four years. During her time there, the Gusties were 55-65 (.458). Previous to Gustavus, she spent time overseas helping develop softball programs across Germany. From 2013-2016, Stewart was on staff at Southwest Minnesota State University as the graduate assistant and assistant coach. Stewart played collegiately at Winona State University from 2010-2013. Her team won the NCAA Regional tournament in 2013, advancing to NCAA Super Regionals for the second time in program history. Stewart pitched and played third base. earning All-Conference and All-Region honors during her time as a Warrior. She has earned her B.S in Elementary Education, M.S in Educational Leadership, and her M.A in Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coaching.

Wilson Josephson
Assistant Coach
Wilson Josephson has coached at Macalester since 2017, working as an assistant for the college's varsity program and the head coach of the masters team. Since 2020, he has also served on the US Masters Swimming national Coaches Committee and the USMS Diversity and Inclusion committee. Prior to his time at Mac, Josephson was a lead coach for the Edina Swim Club's age group program and the head coach of the Concord Blue Dolphins. In his role at Macalester, Josephson is an advisor to the Student Athlete Mentors, a group of leaders from every varsity athletics program that work to connect their peers with resources for support on campus. SAMs also champion and provide logistical support for other Scots LEAD programs and affinity groups. As a student-athlete at Carleton College ('16), Josephson was a two-time MIAC champion in the 200 freestyle relay and an Academic All-American (honorable mention). His degree is in English literature, but during his undergraduate years he studied in nineteen different departments. Aren't the liberal arts neat?!
