Jamal Palmer

Head Coach

Palmer has over 12 years of coaching experience, beginning as an assistant mens basketball coach at NCAA DII Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. Palmer was the assistant for two seasons at Shippensburg before becoming the head coach at Slippery Rock University, another NCAA DII school, in Slippery Rock, PA. He was the head coach at Slippery Rock for three season before taking an assistant coaching position with the mens basketball program at Saint Vincent College in June 2008. Palmer served as an assistant for one season at the NCAA DIII Saint Vincent University in Latrobe, PA before starting his next coaching venture. In September of 2009, he was hired as an assistant coach at the NCAA DII University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in Johnstown, PA. After leaving the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in July 2013, Palmer moved on to Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY where he last coached before taking the Madison College job. He served as an assistant coach at the NCAA DII school for two seasons. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native was a two-sport athlete (basketball, football) at West Philadelphia Catholic High School who received many accolades for his basketball skills. Palmer was named both second team all-conference in the Catholic League as a power forward/center, and was also named the fifth best small forward in the city by Ted Silary of the Philadelphia Daily News. Palmer took his talents to Millersville University in Millersville, PA, and found instant success on the basketball team when he started every game his freshman season. He was named first team all-conference (Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference) all four seasons, was named the Conference Player of the Year his sophomore season, and was named an honorable mention Daktronics All-American his sophomore through senior seasons.   Besides his athletic prowess at both West Philadelphia Catholic High School and Millersville University, Palmer excelled in the classroom as well. Jason Roscoe

Head Coach

Jason Roscoe took over as the head coach of the Madison College men's basketball program after being hired in August 2022 and is in his fourth season. Roscoe became the 11th head coach in program history. In addition to coaching basketball, he will also serve Madison College as an academic advisor. Roscoe went 16-14 in his first season and guided the WolfPack to the Region 4 Division III Championship game. After making the jump to NJCAA Division II in 2023-24, he has led the WolfPack to back-to-back Region 4 Tournament appearances, including reaching the semifinals to cap a 19-10 season in 2024-25. That team climbed as high as #16 in the NJCAA Division II Poll, marking the first national ranking for the WolfPack in over a decade. Roscoe has coached three all-conference players, five all-region recipients, and one NJCAA All-American. In July 2023, Roscoe was selected to participate and coach in the NCAA College Basketball Academy as one of nearly 100 coaches working with up to 400 of the top prep prospects from around the country. Roscoe's coaching experience includes 18 years in basketball, including four seasons at the collegiate level. Most recently, Roscoe was the assistant men's basketball coach at NCAA Division II Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, for the 2021-22 season. Prior to that, he coached in the junior college ranks as he spent two seasons (2009-2011) as an assistant at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and the 2007-08 campaign with Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania. In addition, Roscoe worked the sidelines as a varsity boys basketball coach from 2004-2007 at Liberty High School, as well as two years (2016-2018) as an assistant for the 15U team of Cross Fit AAU. Roscoe was a three-sport athlete during his college days, competing in basketball, football, and track & field at NCAA Division II Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. In five years with the Mountaineers, he served as team captain for his final two seasons while playing for coach Vince Alexander, whom he later coached with at Clayton State. Alexander also coached Roscoe at the prep level at York High School. An all-state honoree in three sports, Roscoe was named one of the 40 greatest athletes from York, Pennsylvania, in 2001. Roscoe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2004 from Mansfield University, and remained there to obtain a Master's Degree in Education in 2007. In 2019, he received an Academic Advising Certificate from Sam Houston State University. Professionally, he has served as department head for academic advising and a tenured academic advisor at Community College of Philadelphia; interim director of TRiO, coodinator of minority mentoring, interim coordinator for supplemental instruction, and graduate assistant for athletic mentoring, CHAMPS, and Life Skills with Mansfield University; professional academic advisor at University of the Sciences; and academic advisor at Lehigh Carbon Community College. He is currently an active member in several organizations, including the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), NJCAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association, Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education (PBCOHE), Blacks in Higher Education, and National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

Roy Boone

Associate Head Coach

Roy Boone is entering his eighth season with the Madison College men's basketball program and his sixth as associate head coach after being promoted in May 2018. He was initially hired in September 2016. Boone served as the interim head coach of the WolfPack for six games during the 2021-22 season and posted a 2-4 record. Boone had been coaching the fifth grade team for the North East Side Youth Basketball (NESYB) program and previously served as freshman boys coach at Madison East HS in 2004. He ran a highly-competitive summer pro-am league within the city, which he transitioned into the creation of the semi-pro Madison Mavericks that he is the president of and plays for. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Boone moved to Madison prior to his junior year of high school and attended East High. As a guard, he averaged 29.6 points per game his senior year, earning all-state recognition and Big 8 Conference Player of the Year. Following high school, he enrolled at Coffeyville (KS) Community College (NJCAA Division I).  Boone returned to Madison two years later to join hall of fame coach Dick Bennett and the University of Wisconsin. In his first season, he helped the Badgers on a magical run to the 2000 NCAA Final Four. Boone scored a team-high 18 points in a semifinal loss to eventual national champion Michigan State. The following year he led the Badgers in scoring at 12.8 points a game and was named Big Ten All-Conference by the media and coaches. When his college playing days were over, Boone went on to play professionally in Germany in Europe's top league, as well as with the Rockford Lightning of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), the Southern Crescent Lightning of the World Basketball Association (WBA), and Minnesota Ripknees of the American Basketball Association (ABA). Boone earned a bachelor's degree in consumer science from the University of Wisconsin in 2001, and has been a juvenile court worker for seven years Away from basketball, Boone currently resides in Madison with his wife, Kristen, and their daughter, Kennedy. He also enjoys biking, golfing, and playing with his daughter.

Driss Amara

Assistant Coach

Driss Amara is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Madison College men's basketball team after being hired in May 2025.  Driss has spent the previous six years helping the boys and girls basketball programs as his alma mater, Madison East High School. After serving as an assistant coach for the girls program from 2019 to 2022, he shifted over to the boys program from 2022 to 2025. During that time, Driss worked closely with and helped develop several all-conference players as the program was ranked among the state's elite. He also spent time as an assistant coach for the Purgolders football team. Driss began his coaching career working with high school football and basketball teams in the Washington D.C. area. Driss also serves as a lead in the Next Level Basketball Series, a tournament series brand operating across southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois, and works with PGC Basketball, contributing to player developement and training across the country. As a prep, Driss was a three-sport athlete at Madison East, participating in basketball, football, and track & field. Following high school, he attended Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and earned his bachelor's degree in Human Services in 2015. Driss continued his education at Howard University in Washington D.C., where he received his Master's of Social Work in 2018. In 2024, he earned a Master's of Business Administration at UW-Madison. Driss currently lives in Madison and works as a program manager. In his free time, he enjoys photography, traveling, fashion, reading, collecting sneakers, and promoting mental health awareness.

Marvelle Brown Jr.

Assistant Coach

Marvell Brown Jr. is entering his first season as a men's basketball assistant coach at Madison College after being hired in September 2025.  Marvell has been involved with coaching for the past 14 years, including eight years as a skill development trainer for high school and college athletes in Wisconsin and Arizona. He has also spent the previous four years running youth camps, training, and skill development for the Franklin Sabres program in Franklin, Wisconsin, where Marvell coached the 8th grade team for one season. His coaching career began at the Goodman Community Center in Madison coaching various youth camps from 2011-2015, as well as serving as an assistant coach for three years in the NESYB program. Marvell played collegiate basketball at UW-Waukesha in 2017, where he earned his Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. As a prep player, he played for four years and earned two varsity letters at DeForest Area High School, while also competing for local AAU and NESYB programs. Marvell's service to the game of basketball also includes working as a high school referee for the past 12 years in the WIAA. He currently resides in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and enjoys hiking with his dogs, golfing, camping, traveling, gaming, and learning to cook new foods.
