Bill Scheer
Assistant Coach
Scheer is entering his 16th year as a golf coach for Madison College. Scheer served as head coach for the Madison College golf team in three stints, with his first and longest being for nine years from 1992-2001. He also led the program from 2009-2011, and after a one year hiatus, returned to the head coaching role from 2013-14. Bill is now an assistant coach for Bill Kokott, whom he split head coaching duties with for the 2014 season. During Bill's tenure as head coach, his teams won six conference and five state titles. He produced six national qualifiers and two All-Americans, while receiving state coach of the year honors five times. Scheer was a two-sport athlete at Monona Grove H.S. where he earned golf team MVP honors in three straight years and also served as team captain. After high school, Scheer attended Madison College to play golf for the late, Doug Redsten. He qualified for the national tournament and earned all-conference, all-state, and all-region honors. Kokott is currently a PGA Golf Instructor having taught over 7,000 individual lessons in 20-plus years in the business. In 2002, Kokott was named the Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year. He led the 2015 WolfPack to a Region IV title and a fifth place finish at the NJCAA Division III National Tournament. Kokott has studied with top instructors David Leadbetter and Chris Gaughan, attended PGA teaching and coaching summits, completed the LPGA Teacher Education Program for Accessible Golf, partcipated in the 2000 Future of Golf Conference, is a certified GolfPsych mental game instructor, and has received specialized training as a Fit2Golf instructor. Prior to beginning a career as a PGA instructor, Kokott spent two years as co-head golf coach at UW-Milwaukee, his alma mater. Kokott is a graduate of Thomas More High School in South Milwaukee, and excelled at golf in his four seasons as a letter winner. He then took his talents to the links for UW-Milwaukee where he lettered all four years, and was named team MVP his junior and senior seasons. He graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Business Administration-Finance degree, then received his graduate degree (Masters of Business) in 1977. After UW-Milwaukee, Kokott won the 1981 Wisconsin State Open, was a 1993 Wisconsin PGA Assistant Player of the Year, won the 1995 Wisconsin PGA match play championship, and was the 1997 Wisconsin PGA champion. Kokott played in the Western Open, the Greater Milwaukee Open, and won seven North Florida winter tour events.
