Head Coach

King guided the men to an eighth place finish at the North Atlantic Conference championship in 2015 and the women to a fourth place finish. The men's team also received USTFCAA All-Academic honors, the sixth year in a row that a Maine Maritime Academy Cross Country team as earned the honor. King grew up in Orono, Maine and began his running career on the Orono High School Cross Country Team. Ryan ran and competed at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. He graduated from Saint Anselm in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Since college, he has participated in competitive running for more than two decades. Highlights of his running career included finishing in the top ten at the Mount Desert Island Marathon in 2007 and running the Boston Marathon three times.

Bryan Wolf

Head Coach

Bryan Wolf has served as the head coach of the Maine Maritime Academy Women’s Cross-Country program since January 2023. In addition to his women’s cross-country duties, Wolf also serves as the head men’s cross-country coach and the director of digital communications. Prior to taking over the cross-country program, Wolf served as an assistant coach for the Mariners for six seasons. Wolf previously competed in whitewater kayak slalom as a member of the Olympic Development Team. In recent years, he has shifted his focus to endurance sports, including long-distance running and obstacle course racing (OCR). Some past accomplishments include: Member of Olympic Development Whitewater Kayak Team Whitewater Slalom Coach Whitewater Paddling Instructor Outrigger Canoe Racer Endurance Athlete – Running & Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Multiple 1st Place Age-Group Spartan Beast and Spartan Ultra Finish Bryan and his wife Alyssa live in Surry, Maine in a house he recently built and have two sons, Aylen and Nyamh. Johanna Evans

Assistant Coach

Evans brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Mariners. Evans was a three-time America East Honor Roll honoree, won the 1997 New England Indoor Pentathlon and held five track and field records at UMaine when she graduated in 1998.  She's been inducted into both the New York Section Four Athletics Hall of Fame and the Ithaca High School Athletics Hall of Fame. Evans ran Indoor Track and Field at Maine from 1994-1998 and Outdoor Track and Field from 1995-1999. Prior to her time as a coach in Orono, Evans ran Cross Country and played varsity basketball coach at Ithaca High School for four years. Evans graduated Maine with her B.S. in Civil/Enviornment Engineering in 1998 and earned her master's in 2000. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Maine Maritime Academy.
