Marian University Women's Tennis

Mackell has guided the team to a regular season title in 2014-15, a league tournament title in 2013-14 and the program's first-ever team trip to the NAIA National Championship (MU made two other trips when it was a singles-based competition) in 2013-14.   Mackell has been named the Crossroads League Coach of the Year in two of his five seasons (2012-13 and 2014-15) and has guided Jason Denton to a pair of NAIA All-America honors.   He has guided five Knights to All-Crossroads League honors, has seen eight earn Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors and coached Will Dixon to Capital One Academic All-America® honors in 2011-12 and 2012-13.   Mackell's career record at Marian University and as a head coach is 64-54 in five seasons and he holds a league record of 25-15.   He also serves as assistant coach for the women's tennis team alongside wife Cassie Mackell.   Mackell was a four-year letter winner at Georgetown College in Kentucky from 2001-2005. During his time at Georgetown, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2004-05 and was also named team captain during his senior year. He earned All-Mid-South Conference honors during his senior campaign and picked up a Mid-South Conference Player of the Week award on March 20, 2005.   He currently holds a position with the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) in Indianapolis. The couple resides in Greenfield, Ind.
