Terry Horton
Assistant Coach
Horton's primary responsibilities include coaching the sprinting, hurdling, jumping and field-event athletes on the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. During the past several years, Horton's athletes have set school records and earned scoring medals at MAAC Championships, as well as qualifying marks for both the ECAC and IC4A Championship meets. Horton has helped to continue the success in these events, which are challenging to coach due to lack of on-campus track and field facilities. A local coaching and athletics fixture for several decades, Horton is a member of the Sports Museum of Dutchess County Hall of Fame and the Arlington Athletics Hall of Fame. Terry is truly a living legend in our sport in Dutchess County, Director of Track/Cross Country Pete Colaizzo said. He does so much for our program, during all three seasons. He is an indispensible member of our team. Terry graduated from Arlington High School in 1966 and SUNY Cortland in 1970 and completed his Master's degree in Education in 1974. In 1970 he began his teaching career in Physical Education in the Arlington School District and retired from that position in 2003. During that time he coached Cross Country, Winter and Spring Track. In addition to his coaching Terry served at various times as DCSL Cross Country chairman, Section One Girls' Cross Country coordinator, Section One Girls' Spring Track coordinator, and New York State Girls' Spring Track coordinator. He was Meet Director of the Arlington Invitational Relays, the 1979, 1983, and 1989 NYS Cross Country Championships, and has been Site Director for the NYS Federation Cross Country Championships at Bowdoin Park since 1989. Terry is a charter member and past president of the Dutchess County Track Officials and Coaches Association. Following his retirement from Arlington in 2003 he undertook the job of restarting Cross Country and initiating Indoor and Outdoor Track at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, where he coached athletes to national championships in the pole vault, 100, and 200 meter dashes. Complementing his coaching, officiating and administrating Terry also found time to compete. Starting as a sprinter in high school, he added the 400 hurdles in college and expanded his repertoire after college to include most races from 800 meters to the marathon. Horton lives in LaGrangeville with his wife Ruth, and three children, Beiasha, Dakaia, and Terlyka.

Peter Colaizzo
Coach
Colaizzo has overseen the complete transformation of the Running Red Foxes. When Colaizzo began in January of 1991, there were four active runners taking part in the club sport of track and field. He marshaled the transition back to NCAA Division I intercollegiate competition for all three seasons. Marist has fielded intercollegiate cross country teams since 1963, while track alternated between club and varsity status from 1963-1991, before becoming a full three-season endeavor in 1991. Colaizzo is a big believer in the long-term development of his athletes, and that development does not end with their graduation from Marist College. To that end, in the summer of 2004, Colaizzo formed the Marist Alumni Racing Team. Alumni runners now don the Marist red-and-white at such prestigious events as the Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon. Colaizzo was a four-year member of the cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams at Marist College from 1982 through 1986. During his college career, Colaizzo specialized in long-distance races. Colaizzo still remains active as a recreational long-distance runner. Along with the Marist Alumni Racing Team, Colaizzo is also affiliated with the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club and the Broadway Ultra Society. He has completed 57 marathon or ultra-marathon runs in his career, including at least one marathon finish per year for the past 30 years. In addition to his coaching responsibilities at Marist College, Colaizzo works in the Student-Athlete Enhancement Center as a Writing Skills Specialist, assisting Red Fox student-athletes with their academic course work throughout the semester. He is also an adjunct instructor at Marist. Colaizzo is a freelance writer whose work regularly appears in the Poughkeepsie Journal, where he worked full-time for 23 years. His writing has been honored by the New York State Associated Press and in Best of Gannett competitions. Colaizzo resides in Hyde Park, NY, with his wife Heidi and their children, Joey, Natalie and James.
