Martin Luther College Men's Cross Country

Paustian returns for his 13th season as Head Coach of the MLC mens cross country program in 2016 following one year away from the program, and has also served as the coach of the womens program for several years during that stretch.    Paustians first season came in 2003, when he coach the first of four UMAC Championship teams. The other championships came in the 2004, 2005 and 2008 seasons.  In 2014, Paustian led the Knights to a second-place finish at the UMAC Championships, with four of his runners earning All-UMAC honors for their efforts at the event.   Paustian was named UMAC Coach of the Year in each of those seasons, as well. Paustian is currently taking a sabbatical for the 2015-16 school year, but plans to return to running the men's cross country program in the 2016-17 school year.    Paustian began his coaching career in 1982, when he interrupted his own collegiate career to coach the Northwestern Prep team. One year after helping stabilize that program, Northwestern went on to win a state championship.   Paustian also serves as a Professor of English and Hebrew at MLC.
