Head Coach
Honors 2024 Atlantic East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year 2021 Atlantic East Coaching Staff of the Year (as an assistant) Mike Cassidy enters his fifth season as the head baseball coach at Marymount in 2026. He has been a part of the staff since its inaugural season in 2014. In 2025, Marymount baseball won the Atlantic East Championship making their second NCAA Regional appearance in program history. Under his leadership, eight Saints were named to an All-Conference team with two Saints named to an All-Region team. David Murihead earned Co-Pitcher of the Year and Jack McCarthy garnered Rookie of the Year honors. In 2024, Marymount baseball set a program record with 10 All-Conference performers as Cassidy and his staff received the Atlantic East Coaching Staff of the Year award. The Saints were ranked for the first time in program history, reaching as high as No. 22 in the national polls. Marymount won a program-record 31 games to earn the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic East Tournament before being eliminated by Cabrini. Five Saints were named to an All-Region team by the ABCA or D3baseball.com with two more Saints being named All-State by VaSID. Marymount finished with a 22-19 mark in 2023 and earned six All-Conference selections. In his first season at the helm of the Marymount baseball program in 2022, Cassidy helped the team make history with a then-program record 29 wins. He coached a consenus All-Region player in Alex Lemery and three All-Conference selections. In his final year as an assistant, Cassidy helped lead the Saints to their first-ever Atlantic East Conference title and trip to the NCAA Division III Championships in 2021. He oversaw the growth of infielder Alex Lemery and Ryan Bergenhagen, who earned Co-Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors from the Atlantic East, respectively. Cassidy has a wealth of coaching experience across the state of Virginia. In 2005, he was an assistant at his alma mater of Averett University. He returned to his Northern Virginia roots in 2008 to assistant coach five years at Bishop O’Connell High School, until moving for a season in 2013 to his high school, Lake Braddock Secondary School. Lake Braddock were Northern Region Champions and semifinalist of the Virginia High School League State Championships in 2013. Beyond his coaching duties with Marymount, Cassidy is the co-founder and director of Metropolitan Baseball Academy in Lorton, Va. He was the founder and director of NOVA South Baseball Academy for four years and was the co-owner of Virginia Baseball Club Occoquan for six years before that. Cassidy has been the head coach of numerous highly competitive showcase teams including the Virginia Barnstormers, Virginia Shamrocks, and Metropolitan Senators. Cassidy was an assistant coach alongside former Marymount head coach Frank Leoni in 2015 with the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks in the Futures Collegiate League, a team that was deemed regular-season champions. He was named the head coach of the elite summer-league squad for 2016 and 2017. In 2018, Mike was named the pitching coach of the FCA Braves in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League, where he served through the '18 and '19 seasons. In 2019, the FCA Braves pitching staff finished as the No. 2 staff in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League. Playing his collegiate ball at Averett from 2001-04, Cassidy was a three-year starter in left field. While at Averett, he was a part of teams that collected 100-plus wins and was named 2003 Dixie Conference Champions. He received his Bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in coaching and officiating. Cassidy is a native of Burke, Va., and attended Lake Braddock Secondary School as a three-sport athlete (baseball, football, and wrestling), graduating in 2000. He and his wife Ashley reside in Dumfries, Va.

Tyler Womer
Assistant Coach
Tyler Womer returns for the 2022 season as an assistant coach and infield coordinator under head coach Michael Cassidy. Coach Womer will again be responsible for the coaching of the Saints' infielders, while assisting with hitters, recruiting efforts, as well as camps for the Marymount baseball program. Coming from New Castle, Pa., Coach Womer played his collegiate years at Division II Wingate University, where he was a regular infielder from 2007-11. He was a part of the 2011 South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament Champion team and advanced to the NCAA Southeast Regional in 2011. Coach Womer began his coaching career shortly after graduation, remaining put at Wingate to obtain his master's degree while assisting with the baseball operations. He was responsible for the infielders, also assisting with hitters. During this stint, he held the main responsibility running youth camps, high school showcases, and organizing the annual team golf tournament. In 2012, Coach Womer was hired as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at DeSales University located in Center Valley, Pa. under high-standing Coach Tim Neiman, who currently has the 12th most career wins (760) in NCAA Division III history. At DeSales, Coach Womer was integral in all recruiting efforts while remaining an infield, outfield, and hitting coach. While being the centerpiece for recruiting, Womer brought in 19 individual players who were named to the MAC Freedom All-Conference Team a total of 36 times throughout their respective careers. Coach Womer made the move to the DMV in 2017, being hired as the Director of Operations for the Mizuno Outlaws Travel Baseball Organization and the Assistant Director of Baseball at Crozer's 5-Tool Baseball Academy, located in Tyson's Corner, Va.. In August of 2019, Coach Womer was hired as an assistant coach at Erskine College, a strong NCAA Division II program located in South Carolina. During his time there, Coach Womer was responsible for the infielders, while still assisting with the hitters. The Flying Fleet finished the 2020 shortened season with an overall record of 17-8-1. During this season, the Erskine offense was among the top in all of Division II, finishing second in the nation in stolen bases (66), second in doubles (67), third in runs scored (216), fourth in hits (262), eighth in triples (10), and 24th overall in home runs. The Flying Fleet defense was also seventh in the nation in double plays turned (20) during this season. Most recently before Marymount, Coach Womer was an assistant and infield coach for the Alexandria Aces Collegiate Summer Team of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball Leage (CRCBL), a top summer league for collegiate baseball players. During this time, he coached a plethora of different Division I players from schools not limited to Vanderbilt University, Auburn University, and the University of Central Florida. During the 2021 season, the Aces finished with an overall record of 20-15, good for regular season second place. Coach Womer coached first base for the CRCBL All-Star Team, who played the Israel National Team, holding current and former MLB players. Apart from his current role for Marymount baseball, Coach Womer trains players of all ages throughout the DMV, running camps, weekly training sessions, clinics, and more in the Northern Virginia area. Cassidy is entering his third season as an assistant coach at Marymount, working with hitters, outfielders, and catchers. Cassidy was an assistant coach for the 2015 Martha's Vineyard Sharks in the Futures Collegiate League (2015 regular season champions) and has been named head coach of the Sharks for the summer of 2016. He was an assistant coach at Averett University in 2005. From 2008-'12, Coach Cassidy coached at Bishop O'Connell High School and was part of the 2013 Lake Braddock Secondary School coaching staff (2013 Northern Region Champions and Semi-Finals of the Virginia High School League state championships) before being hired at Marymount. Mike has been the owner of NOVA South Baseball Academy in Occoquan, Virginia for three years and was the co-owner of Virginia Baseball Club Occoquan for six years before that. Cassidy has been the head coach of numerous highly competitive showcase teams including the Virginia Barnstormers, Virginia Shamrocks, and is now co-owner of the Metropolitan Senators. Mike played four years of collegiate baseball at Averett University from 2001-'04 (100-plus wins and 2003 Dixie Conference Champions) where he was a three-year starter in left field. While at Averett, he received his Bachelors degree in Sports Management with a minor in Coaching and Officiating. Cassidy is a native of Burke, Virginia and attended Lake Braddock Secondary School as a three-sport athlete (baseball, football, and wrestling), graduating in 2000.

Daniel Raley

Dan Raley returns to the Saints' coaching staff ahead of the 2023 season under the leadership of head coach Mike Cassidy. Raley brings a wealth of experience to the Marymount baseball program. An All-American player at Division I Wichita State, Raley was drafted in the 31st round of the MLB Amateur Draft by the Minnesota Twins. Once his playing days were completed, he stayed within the professional realm as a hitting coach for four seasons. Raley coached in the Clark C. Griffin Collegiate Baseball League for the Vienna Senators, where he led the team to seven championships. Honors: 2024 Atlantic East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year

Conner Hall
Assistant Coach
Conner Hall returns for his fourth season in 2023 for the Marymount baseball program. Hall will again hold the title of assistant coach, working primarily with the catchers, as well as assisting with the hitters and pitchers. He played four years for the Saints’ and graduated in 2019. He won multiple awards during his playing days, including All-Conference, All-State and All-Region honors. Following his playing career, Hall joined the staff at Marymount right after graduating from Marymount. Beyond coaching at Marymount, Hall is a Lead Instructor and Assistant Facility Coordinator at Metropolitan Baseball Academy. Hall is a native of Alexandria, VA where he still resides. Brett Kelley

Brett Kelley '22 enters his third year as a volunteer assistant coach under head coach Mike Cassidy ahead of the 2025 season. Kelley was a four-year member of the Saints baseball program, posting his best season as a senior in 2022. He finished the year off with a 2.33 ERA, striking out 19 batters in 19.1 innings pitched. During his time as a student-athlete at Marymount, Kelley reached outside of the ball field to gain valuable experience and be an ambassador for Marymount Athletics. He was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and served as treasurer in the 2021-22 school year. During the entirety of his four-year stint, he served the role of volunteer initiative group leader, helping set up and lead volunteer efforts for the program. He brings prior coaching experience to his role for Marymount baseball, currently serving as youth baseball coach and instructor for Prime Time Baseball out of Alexandria, Va., where he has served since 2020. He also spent time with the Washington Nationals Professional Sports Camps, spending time as a division lead coach and residential experience coach from 2016-20. Kelley graduated from Marymount Cum Laude in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Business Administration and Sociology. He was a member of the National History Honor Society and Alpha Lota Sigma Chapter. Kelley has since received his Master of Arts in History from George Mason University, which he completed in December 2024. Apart from his role with Marymount, he serves as an Auxiliary Programs Coordinator at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Va. Sam Bender

Honors: 2024 Atlantic East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year Sam Bender is entering his seventh season as an assistant coach for the Marymount baseball program. In this role, he serves as the recruiting coordinator for the Saints, as well as the primary hitting coach. In 2025, Bender played an integral role in the development of Saints batters that led the Atlantic East Conference in most hitting categories, while sporting a team .399 batting average against conference opponents. Across the whole season, the team batted .336 against one of the hardest ranked schedules in the country. Marymount baseball won the Atlantic East Conference Tournament in 2025 and made their second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history with Bender helping lead the charge. During Bender's six-year stint with the program to date, the Saints hold a .635 winning percentage, while hitting at a .307 clip. A native of Maryland, Bender has brought prominent coaching experience to the Saints program. Bender has worked extensively with hitters alongside now head coach Mike Cassidy throughout his tenure with the Saints, producing VaSID Player of the Year Bill Wojcik in 2020, while also coaching up two conference players of the year. He was a part of the staff in the team's first-ever conference championship in 2021. The coaching staff won the Atlantic East Coaching Staff of the Year after that season. Prior to coming to MU, Bender coached two seasons at Montgomery College, while also coaching for the Bethesda Big Train, a member of the Cal Ripken Summer Collegiate League. He worked with multiple MLB draft picks, including a first round pick (Nolan Schanuel) and a second round pick (Kemp Alderman). While coaching for the Big Train, the hitters broke multiple team and league offensive records. Bender began his coaching career at his alma mater Thomas S. Wooton High School in Rockville, Md.
