Maryville College Men's Soccer

Baker also played semi-professional soccer for three years.  He moved to the United States in 1995 to attend and play soccer at Tennessee Wesleyan College. During his time in Athens he was a captain for two years and an All-Conference selection for three years from 1995-98.  Baker graduated from TWC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with Teacher Licensure, and after graduation Baker was the assistant coach for both the men and womens soccer teams at Tennessee Wesleyan for the 1999 season. In the summer of 2000 Baker moved to Maryville, TN to accept the position of assistant men and womens soccer coach, and held that position until 2009 when he was named as Associate Head Coach for the men and womens soccer programs.  During his time with the Scots mens program they have had an overall record of 144 wins, 53 losses, and 13 ties.  The men have won 10 regular season GSAC titles, 6 GSAC tournament titles, and 1 NCAA National Tournament appearance in which the Scots reached the Sweet 16.  Baker has coached 31 GSAC All-Conference players, 13 All-South Region players, and 3 Academic All-Americans.  During his time with the Scots womens program they have had an overall record of 150 wins, 58 losses, and 12 ties.  The women have won 10 regular season GSAC titles, 9 GSAC tournament titles, and 8 NCAA National Tournament appearances.  Baker has coached 31 GSAC All-Conference players, 8 All-South Region players, and 1 Academic All-American. Baker holds coaching licenses from both England and the United States. He holds his English Football Association Coaching, Teaching and Treatment of Injury certificates from the English Football Association, and the NSCAA National, and Advanced National Diploma's from the United States. As well as his coaching duties at Maryville College Baker has been a member of the coaching staff for the Tennessee Olympic Development Program for the past nine years and is presently the State Head Coach for the 1996 girls.  He lives in Maryville with his wife Amy and daughters Julianna and Emma.
