Carone has guided the Green Terror to back-to-back Centennial Conference Baseball Championship appearances in 2024 and 2025, including a win over Gettysburg in the first round of the 2025 tournament for the program's first home playoff win since 2003. The 2025 season saw graduate student Joey Hubinger break the program record for career hits and junior Ben Davis break the program record for career home runs. Four players earned All-Centennial Conference honors with Davis being named to the D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) all-region honors. In 2024, Carone led McDaniel to its first appearance and win in the conference tournament appearance since 2016. The team had a program-record seven players earned All-Centennial Conference honors, including freshman Shea McKenna who was named Rookie of the Year. Carone and his staff was also awarded Coaching Staff of the Year. In his first season in 2022, Carone guided McDaniel to its first 20-win season in seven years. The offense led Division III in triples per game (0.78) and ranked second in total triples (31). The Green Terror led the conference in seven offensive categories, including batting average (.327), walks (206), hits (457), on-base percentage (.425) and scoring (9.0 runs per game). Shane Daly was also named Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year. Carone came to McDaniel after spending 10 seasons as the head coach at Division I Wagner where he led the Seahawks to 207 wins from 2012-21, becoming just the second coach in program history to reach the 200-win plateau. The 2015 and 2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) Coach of the Year, he had five players selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft since 2013. Four of those players have advanced to at least the Double-A level and two have received promotions to their respective MLB teams. In 2018, Carone led Wagner to a program-record 38 wins, including a record 21 in the NEC, a regular season championship, the program's first since 2009, and the NEC title game. He served as chair of the NEC coaches’ committee and served on the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee from 2015-19. He was committee chair in 2018 and 2019. Prior to Wagner, Carone served four seasons as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Division I Villanova. Four of his Wildcat pitchers were drafted in the MLB First-Year Player Draft. Carone has had 23 players who have been selected in MLB First-Year Player Draft with four of them reaching the MLB level. He also coached two current MLB pitching coaches; Andrew Bailey of the Boston Red Sox (Wagner, 2006) and Bill Murphy of the Houston Astros (Wagner, 2012). Carone also spent time as an assistant coach at Rider (2006-08), Wagner (2005-06), Stevens (2004-05), and New Jersey Institute of Technology (2003-04). As a player at Division I Monmouth, Carone was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year and to the All-Northeast Conference First Team as a junior in 2002 when he set the program record for wins in a season with a 10-3 record and 2.21 ERA in 97.2 innings. He was also a team captain as a senior. He graduated from Monmouth in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Kendall Luy

Head Coach

Kendall Luy was named Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at McDaniel on July 16, 2025. She came to Westminster after serving as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at FDU-Florham in Madison, N.J. since July 2021.   In 17 years as a college coach, Luy has mentored 17 all-region selections, 14 conference champions, eight ECAC champions, and five track & field national qualifiers, including the silver medalist in the men's shot put at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships who was also the Penn Relays champion that year.   Luy also has great experience in meet management, hosting the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships, 2016 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, 2012 CAC Cross Country Championships, and the 2009 Mason-Dixon Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.   Luy was the first head coach in the history of men's and women's track & field at FDU, starting the programs in 2022-23. That year, the men earned three medals and had two conference champions at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships while the women earned six medals, three indoor and three outdoor.   The men also had three United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Metro Region selections and earned six medals, including gold in the high jump at the 2023 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.   The second year saw Luy lead the men to five conference medals, the ECAC champion in high jump and triple jump outdoors, and five USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors. They also had the first national qualifier in program history as D'Maari Brown participated in the triple jump at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.   The women earned five medals, including two golds in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles at the 2024 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. They also had two USTFCCCA All-Metro Region selections and earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.   This spring, Luy oversaw two USTFCCCA All-Metro Region selections for the men, and three conference medalists, two USTFCCCA All-Metro Region selections and the 400-meter champion at the 2025 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the women.   Prior to FDU, Luy served as the head men's and women's track & field coach at Division III Schreiner in Kerrville, Texas from 2017-21. She was tasked with starting the Mountaineers' women's track & field program and restarting the men's track and field program. Luy was also the assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country teams before being promoted to head coach prior to the 2019 season.   Luy is no stranger to the state of Maryland, serving as an assistant cross country and track & field coach at Frostburg State from 2008-17. She was also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation teaching the psychology of human performance.   As a student-athlete, Luy competed at Division III Susquehanna where she was a provisional qualifier in the javelin for the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She earned four all-conference selections for the River Hawks, including an All-MAC First Team honor in the javelin as a sophomore in 2006.   Luy earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Susquehanna in May 2008 and her master's in counseling psychology from Frostburg State in May 2011.   A native of Elizabethtown, Pa., Luy holds a USA Track & Field Coaching Education Level 1 certification and Track & Field Technical Certification from the USTFCCCA. She also participated in the NCAA Women's Leadership Symposium.

Jason Reider

Assistant Coach

Jason Reider was named assistant track & field coach at McDaniel on Oct. 20, 2025. He is a dedicated coach and educator with more than two decades of experience in athletics, strength and conditioning, and physical education. Prior to McDaniel, Reider served as the head cross country coach at Penn State York, where he developed training programs and managed all aspects of the program from organizing practices and competitions to recruiting new talent and ensuring compliance. While at Penn State York, Reider also served as a track & field coach in the Dover Area School District. Reider's background includes a long tenure with the Southern York County School District where he taught health and physical education to students from kindergarten through high school. As the school’s certified strength and conditioning specialist, he designed and implemented comprehensive fitness programs for student athletes and teams. Reider was the head track & field and strength and conditioning coach at York College of Pennsylvania from 2005-07. He led a staff of coaches, guided student athletes, and played a key role in recruiting and program development. He was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the college’s Grumbacher Center track & field venue. Reider holds certifications as a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coach and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. A 2001 graduate of West Chester, Reider earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education/Kinesiology, graduating cum laude while competing on the cross country and track & field teams after transferring from Slippery Rock where he was a member of the  men's cross country team that placed sixth at the 1991 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. Reider also holds a master’s degree equivalency from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and completed another 30 graduate credits in Education and Kinesiology beyond his master's degree. Reider is married to the former Kelly Walton Reider who was a two-time All American and six-time NCAA qualifier at West Chester in both cross country and track & field. She was inducted in the West Chester Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.

Trey Martinez

Assistant Coach

Trey Martinez enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Green Terror in 2026. He works with the pitchers, catchers, and leads the recruiting efforts for the program. Martinez was an integral part of the 2024 Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year and in 2025, the Green Terror made it back to back post-season appearances with senior Conor Henderson earning All-Centennial Conference honors as a relief pitcher. Martinez took over pitching coach duties for the 2024 season and McDaniel had the second-best team ERA in the Centennial Conference at 4.82 while making its first postseason appearance since 2016. Ryan Martino and Tyson Nercessian each received all-conference honors. Before his time at McDaniel, Martinez was part of the coaching staff at his alma mater, Towson University for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He was a four-year starter as a catcher for the Tigers and had a 46 percent success rate of runners caught stealing. He was the second player ever to be born in Guam and play Division I baseball.

Brian Culley

Assistant Coach

Brian Culley is currently in his second stint as assistant coach for the McDaniel Baseball Program. He works with Infielders and Hitters. He was named captain of the McDaniel (Formerly Western Maryland College) Baseball Team during his four year career from 1993-1997. He later was named assistant coach and maintained that role from 1998-2005. After that he became the Head Coach at Mt. Hebron High School and led the team to the State Championship Game in 2015. The Baltimore Sun named him coach of the Year in 2015. He currently lives with his wife Chrissy and Daughter Morgan in Sykesville, Maryland.
