McDaniel College Men's Swimming

Hiestand saw success at every level he has coached. In addition to his work with high-school All-Americans, and USA-Swimming national age-group champions, he has coached numerous swimmers to US Olympic Trials (2004, 2008), US Nationals, and Jr. Nationals. In his previous nine years with the McDaniel teams, Hiestand coached five individual conference champions in eight events, and pushed swimmers to no fewer than 30 program records. In 2002, he guided Melanie Pulley to the NCAA Championships. In the summer of 2012, he added Olympic coach to his resume when he travelled to London with Suzanne Stettinius 11 to coach the McDaniel alum in the swimming portion of the modern pentathlon. Heistand has garnered individual awards, as well. He has been named the Maryland Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year three consecutive seasons and has been selected as an assistant coach for both USA Swimming's Regional and National Select Camps in 2007. Hiestand, who also oversees the College's popular swim lesson program, resides in the area with his four children, Tristin, Tanner, Gabrielle and Scarlett.
