Nick Crovetti

Assistant Coach

Crovetti enters his sixth season as Head Women's Golf Coach in 2016-17. Crovetti is the only head coach in program history, guiding the team since its inception back in 2011-12. Under his tutelage, the program has quickly become a power in the East Region and in the Northeast-10 Conference in a remarkably short span. Crovetti has led the Warriors to back-to-back Northeast-10 Conference championships both in the spring of 2015 and in the fall of 2015, as Merrimack is the only school to win a league championship since the conference began sponsoring golf as a championship sport in 2014-15. With Crovetti at the helm, Merrimack has gone relatively unchallenged against the rest of the NE-10. In fact, Merrimack won the first-ever NE-10 Championship by 34 strokes and then widened that margin of victory to 51 strokes last fall when the team repeated as league champions. The team also won an ECAC Championship back in the 2012-13 campaign. The Warriors were on the cusp of at-large NCAA Super Regional berths in each of the last three seasons, but despite that, Crovetti has helped his student-athletes earn a number of individual accolades. As a freshman, Krystal Knight became the second student-athlete in school history to qualify for the NCAA Super Regionals in May of 2016. Ali Reed ('15) was the first to do so back in 2013, and she advanced a round further to the NCAA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she competed against the nation's best golfers and finished inside the top-50.  Reed was named the program's first-ever NE-10 Sports Excellence Award Winner, followed by Alessandra Ricigliano in the spring of 2016. She and classmate Jessica Wagner have won both individual titles at both NE-10 Championships, as well. Knight was named the NE-10 Rookie of the Year in 2015-16, as well. In 2014-15, Crovetti helped the program take even greater strides during his third season at the helm of the program, which has constantly competed against some of the top Division II regional programs over the past few years. Merrimack finished that season ranked 10th out of 45 teams in the East Region, while two individuals ranked in the top-six in the region, as well. After an impressive rookie season, the women's golf team reached even greater heights in 2012-13. The Warriors did not wait long to make noise, winning their first tournament of the year that they participated in en route to a successful fall campaign. Then, in the spring, Merrimack truly caught fire; the Warriors continued to face off against top competition in the region before deciding to compete in the ECAC Championships. In the ECACs, Merrimack blew away the field by more than 30 strokes, helping the program lay claim to its first-ever conference championship in just its second year as a varsity sport. That was not all for the Warriors; then-sophomore Ali Reed became the first golfer in program history to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals. She then qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament  The Warriors competed in 10 events during their innagural season, finishing in the top-10 four times and collecting a top-five finish at the Wellesley Invitational. Academically, three warriors were selected to the National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team for 2011-12 and, in addition, Womens Golf earned the second-highest GPA in the country according to the the NGCA. Crovetti is a 2015 Certified LPGA Teaching Instructor. As a 2004 graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, he was also a four-year scholarship member on the mens golf team; Crovetti was a three-time Boston Herald and Boston Globe all-scholastic selection and also was an MIAA Individual High School state champion in 1995.   In 2008, he earned membership in the PGA of America, and also received the distinction of being named as a top-50 teacher by U.S. Kids Golf, a national award given annually. In addition, Crovetti is a member of the Womens Golf Coaches Association, and Titleist Professional Staff. He has held golf professional positions at some of the top clubs in the country including: The Fox Club (Palm City, Fla.); Salem Country Club (Peabody, Mass.); Bellevue Golf Club (Melrose, Mass.); and, most recently, as General Manager/Director of Golf at Beverly Golf and Tennis Club.
