Scott Frey
Head Coach
Frey's 17th year as head coach of Messiah College women's soccer. In his 16 seasons at the helm, his teams have collected an astounding 340-17-20 recorda winning percentage 0.930 that makes him the winningest active Division III mens or womens soccer coach with 10 more years of experience. Frey's teams have earned five NCAA Division III National Championships, including back-to-back titles in both 2008 and 2009, 2011 and 2012. Altogether across his 15-plus years at Messiah, Frey's teams have advanced to 16 NCAA Championships and 11 Final Fours. They have finished as the national runner-up three times. Last season, Messiah earned a final mark of 22-0-3 for the second-straight season, and they advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four for the 11th time in program history. Messiah qualified for the Final Four in each season from 2004 through 2013, a streak of nine seasons. As mentioned, They won titles in 2008, 2009, and 2011, and 2012, with Runner-Up finishes in 2007 and 2010 giving them six-straight seasons in the National Championship game. The Falcons' first National Championship came in 2005 as they also marked their first-ever undefeated season (22-0-1). In addition to building the Falcons into a national powerhouse, Frey has also developed the Falcons into a juggernaut in the MAC Commonwealth. Since arriving to the Falcons' bench in 2000, the Falcons have won 14 conference titles in 16 seasons, and they finished the 2015 regular-season with an unbeaten regular-season conference streak of 105-0-3 dating back to the start of the 2001 campaign. Frey has been recognized as the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for Division III in 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2015. He was also named the NSCAA Division III National Coach of the Year in 2005, 2009, and 2011. A 1984 graduate of Messiah College, Frey began his college coaching career as an assistant with the Messiah men's team from 1988-1992. In 1993, Frey took over the men's team at Alma College in Michigan. There, he led the program to two MIAA Conference titles, three NCAA Championships appearances, and a berth into the NCAA Division III Final Four in 1999. He was recognized as the Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year in 1999. Frey holds both an Advanced National Diploma and a USSF "B" License. In addition to his coaching duties, Frey holds administrative duties with the Athletic Department, including locker room organization and game management. He and his wife, Sheila, have an eldest son Drew and two daughters, Alicia and Maggie. Both Drew and Alicia were standout soccer players for the Messiah men's and women's soccer programs, respectively; Maggie is currently in her first year with the Falcons' program.

Todd Balsbaugh
Assistant Coach
Balsbaugh's 16th season as assistant coach for Messiah women's soccer. A 1994 graduate of Messiah, Balsbaugh has been coaching with the program for all but one year of Scott Frey's tenure, and he's been a pivotal piece of the Falcons' ascent to the top of the NCAA. A 1994 graduate of Messiah, Balsbaugh also once played for the Falcons' men's JV team-- a team coached by Frey himself. Along with a bachelor's degree from Messiah, Balsbaugh holds a master's degree from Penn State University from 2011. Coach Balsbaugh and his wife Nicole currently reside in Annville, Pa., with their daughter, Abigail, and son, Daniel.
