Matt Sutjak
Assistant Coach
Sutjak returned to his alma mater for the 2013 season. Sutjak was promoted to the role of defensive coordinator prior to the 2016 season. Since arriving at Millersville in 2013, Sutjak has coached outside linebackers and spent two seasons with the defensive line. Sutjak's group helped the Marauders boost their sack total by 10 in 2015 and the defense posted its best total defense ranking in the PSAC in 15 seasons. Sutjak quickly progressed through the coaching ranks after his 2010 graduation from Millersville. He spent the 2012 season as the tight ends coach at the University of Rhode Island, which competes at the Division I FCS level. In addition to coaching the tight ends, he assisted in writing practice scripts, film breakdown, and recruiting. Following the season, he added assistant special teams coordinator to his list of responsibilities. Prior to his tenure Rhode Island, Sutjak coached the secondary at Division III Lycoming College. Sutjak helped the defense ranked third nationally in total defense, second nationally in pass efficiency defense and first in the MAC in total defense. Three of his defensive backs were named all-conference and free safety Ray Bierbach was named All-America. Sutjak, who graduated with a 3.15 GPA in social studies education, was regarded as highly intelligent player from his free safety position. After transferring from Central Connecticut State, Sutjak played in 33 consecutive games, totaling 239 tackles. He led the team in tackles in 2008 and 2009. He tied for the PSAC lead in interceptions with five during the 2010 season.
