Head Coach
Hoeffler head coach in August of 2013. Hoeffler led the Majors to the most wins in the program's four-year history in his first season. Additionally, he coached Hunter Stevison to the first all-conference honor in Millsaps' history as the attacker was the first Major to eclipse 100 points in his career. In 2014, he coached Jack Houtz to an SAA-best 47 goals. Houtz also earned Academic All-American status from US Lacrosse. Hoeffler came to Millsaps after spending the 2013 season as assistant coach for Misericordia University, helping the program to its most successful season in program history. In his first season, he helped the program reach its first MAC Freedom postseason birth, winning its first ever playoff game and competing in the programs first conference championship appearance. Hoeffler coached seven All-Conference selections, four All-Conference players of the week and five MAC Academic Honor Roll students, all program records. He has also attended and worked several summer camps including the Elite 100 (Fairfield University), Southern Combat Showcase (Birmingham, AL), UpLax (Annapolis, MD), Lehigh LaxFest (Lehigh University), Long Island LaxFest (Farmingdale, NY), Rutgers Shootout (Rutgers University), Blue Chip (Bryant University), Battle of the Hot Beds (University of Delaware), Long Island Classic (Hofstra University). Prior to coach at Misericordia, Hoeffler was the Head Coach for the Chiefs High School lacrosse program in Orland Park, IL. Hoeffler compiled a 18-3 record and set several records in 2011, leading the program to its first top 5 ranking in the state, first semi-final appearance, and first South Suburban Conference Championship. He also coached program records in nine All-Conference selections, four seniors selected to the Senior All-Star Game, and first ever All-State Selection. Hoeffler enjoyed a nice playing career at Division III power Widener University as a 4-year starter at midfield where he graduated with a degree in sociology.He helped lead program to 3 MAC Conference Championships, 3 NCAA Tournament Appearances, and was named First Team All-Conference as a Senior in 2011 and finished with 100 career points. A native of Cranford, NJ, he helped start the first lacrosse team at Cranford High School as well as building and developing the youth program. In the 2-year history of the HS program while he was there he was named a captain both years. He led the state in scoring at Midfield in 2005 and finished his senior year being named 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-State and played in the Gil Gibbs All-Star Game. He currently lives in Jackson, MS and is pursuing his Masters in Organizational Management from Misericordia University. The Millsaps Majors named John Hoeffler head coach in August of 2013.
