Ethan Anderson

Bio Ethan Anderson enters his fourth season in 2026 at Gulf Coast, where he started his college coaching career. The South Mississippi product coaches tight ends and fullbacks and brought NCAA and MACCC playing experience to the Bulldogs. The 2025 Gulf Coast offense rewrote the Gulf Coast record book on the way to a 9-2 record and a berth in the MACCC championship game. The team led the NJCAA in total offense per game (466.1 yards), passing yards (3,452) and passing yards per attempt (10.4). Owen Colpaert, a tight end on the squad, signed with Grambling. In 2024, tight end Matt Adcock signed to play at Memphis. The Bulldogs led the country in total offense (470.0 ypg), ranking fourth in passing yards (266.0) and fifth in rushing (204.0). They were the fifth-highest scoring team in the country (39.8 ppg), with the second-most passing touchdowns and 10th-most rushing scores. His 2023 position room sent two players to the Next Level: Bryce Johnson (Northwestern State) and Jackson Kostmayer (Central Arkansas). Anderson started seven games in two seasons playing for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in NCAA Division II. Before that, he played a season at East Mississippi Community College, where he helped lead the team to the playoffs as a freshman. EMCC did not compete in football his second season there. Anderson played at St. Martin High School, where he was a team captain who led the Yellow Jackets to back-to-back playoff appearances. He graduated from EMCC with an associate’s degree and completed a bachelor’s in sports management at UVA Wise.

Connor Andrews

Bio Connor Andrews returns to his alma mater in 2026 for his first coaching job. Andrews graduated from Gulf Coast and is now the running backs assistant. He spent the previous two years as a student assistant at South Alabama, where he compiled film study, opponent breakdown and self-scouting. The Jaguars played in the 2024 Salute to Veterans Bowl. He also assisted in recruiting and practice operations before graduating with a bachelor’s in sports management and coaching administration. Andrews was a student assistant at Gulf Coast while completing his associate’s in kinesiology, graduating from Perk with honors. He earned a Phi Theta Kappa invitation.

Clarence McDougal

Clarence McDougal enters his sixth season as defensive backs coach at Gulf Coast having played a big part in stingy units that won a national championship and ranked in the top 10 in total defense. The 2019 team won the schools fifth national championship in football. He continues to help Gulf Coast hold the reputation as DBU for sending a steady stream of players to four-year schools. The Bulldogs have sent 24 defensive backs to the Next Level since hes been at Perk, including 19 to FBS schools. Five of his pupils have gone to Power 5 schools. The latest class sent Kionte Curry and DK McGruder to Tulane, Cary Grant to Charlotte and Dramarian McNulty to Eastern Michigan. In 2023, Kionte Curry tied for third in the NJCAA with five interceptions. In 2022, his defensive backs kept receivers covered to help the Bulldogs sack the quarterback 34 times, 10th-most in the country. In 2021, Gulf Coast was the fifth-stingiest team in the country against the pass (138.0 yards per game). The 2020 Bulldogs ranked in the top 10 in total defense and had the nations sixth-stingiest run defense. Jadarrius Perkins signed to play at Florida, following the path of 2019 starter Diwun Black. The 2019 Gulf Coast team led the country in total defense (191.1 yards per game) and was third in passing defense (128.9 ypg) and fourth in rushing defense (60.9 ypg). The Regulators allowed only 12.3 points per game, second-best in the country. Safety Jackie Matthews was named NJCAA All-American and signed with West Virginia. McDougal spent the prior five seasons as an assistant at Hinds Community College, where he was secondary coach from 2013-17 before being defensive coordinator for one season. During his time as secondary coach, his squad averaged 10.4 interceptions per season and featured three NJCAA All-Americans. He has sent 22 players to play NCAA Division I football. McDougal was the linebackers and safeties coach at Copiah-Lincoln Community College from 2008-12, where he coached with Gulf Coast defensive coordinator Brett Shufelt. McDougal helped lead Co-Lin to the 2012 MACJC championship. McDougal was a standout on the field during his playing career. He played at Clinton High School where he was a member of the Clarion-Ledgers Dandy Dozen team as a defensive back and wide receiver. He was a first-team All-State selection and played in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game. After being rated the No. 6 safety in the country, he played at Mississippi State where he played 34 games from 2003-2005. He had 173 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. McDougal has a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies from MSU and a masters in sports administration from Belhaven University. He spent time in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp
