Haynes has become a fixture in Monmouth athletics for more than 30 years as a student-athlete, coach and administrator. Coming to Monmouth from nearby Avon, Ill., as a student-athlete in the late '70s, Haynes stayed at his alma mater where he currently serves as the Director of Athletics and Fitness, Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach in addition to teaching in the Department of Kinesiology. With Haynes at the helm of the track teams, Monmouth has experienced unparalleled success. Monmouths mens team placed fourth and third respectively at the NCAA National Indoor and Outdoor Championships this past year. In addition to their 10 national champions, the Fighting Scots track and field program as totaled 193 All-Americans and 78 Midwest Conference Titles. A former school record holder in the high jump and javelin, Haynes graduated from Monmouth in 1982. In 2007, Haynes was named the Division III Men's National Coach of the Year for the indoor season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Monmouth M-Club Hall of Fame in 1997.
