Terry Karg
Head Coach
Karg said. Defenses have to know that anything could happen on any play. That kind of versatility is what I hope to install here at Monroe. On defense were going to be physical and opportunistic. Winning is something Coach Karg understands very well. In his career as a player and a coach, hes been part of 18 playoff victories. In fact, as a coach at Wyoming Seminary Prep between 2006-2009 he won more games in a single season than they had won in more than two decades by leading three seven-plus winning seasons. One thing I learned is that building a winning program in college football is not about one coach or any one or two players. Its about the entire program, he said, and with the kind of commitment we get at Monroe from President Stephen Jerome and Executive vice President Marc Jerome, not to mention the entire Mustangs athletics administration, we are already on a victory path. The bottom line for Mustangs football is about winning on and off the field, he said. Players will get a chance to play and more importantly, have the opportunity to grow as players and as young men in the classroom and in life. Coach Karg grew up in Seattle, WA. He is the proud father of three daughters. Coach Terry Karg arrived at Monroe College in the Fall of 2011 armed with a distinguished twenty year career as a college and pro quarterback and an impressive legacy of success at various levels of In Monroes second varsity season coach Karg led the Mustangs to an impressive 7-3 record and a third place finish Prior to Monroe coach Karg served as an offensive coordinator and director of player personnel in the Arena Football As the offensive coordinator and Director of Player Personnel for the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League (AFL), Coach Karg helped develop three quarterbacks who played in the NFL: Todd Marinavich, tony Grazizni, and Erik Wilhelm. As a player, Terry has had the opportunity to be a pro quarterback all over the world, having played in the NFL Europe, Arena and Canadian Football Leagues.

Kevin Pulley Jr.
Head Coach
Monroe University announced in December 2022 that Kevin Pulley Jr. had been elevated to head coach of the Monroe University football team, becoming the second head coach in the history of the Mustangs football program. Pulley succeeds Terry Karg, who started the program from scratch and coached the Mustangs for 10 years. Pulley began his tenure with Monroe University in 2015 when he assumed the role of running backs coach for the football team. After the 2015 season, Pulley took over offensive coordinator responsibilities, and has held that role ever since. In the years since, the Mustangs’ offense has proven itself to be one of the best in the NJCAA. Pulley takes over a program that has gradually improved in all regards over the past number of seasons. The Mustangs went 10-0 in the regular season in 2021, the team’s first-ever undefeated regular season and first-ever 10-win season. Monroe ranked as high as No. 5 in 2021, the highest NJCAA ranking the program has ever received. The Mustangs also earned an invitation to The Graphic Edge Bowl in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the team’s third straight NJCAA bowl-game appearance. After being hired by Coach Terry Karg in 2015, and then promoted to offensive coordinator in 2016, Pulley was able to lift the Mustangs’ offense to new heights. In 2016, the team averaged over 300 yards and 30 points per game for the first time in its history, and also reached the NJCAA National Rankings for the first time. The offense reached a record-breaking peak in 2019, as Pulley led a Mustang offense that averaged an NJCAA-best 49.8 points per game. The Mustangs averaged 408 yards of offense per game, including 166.3 rushing yards per game. Monroe scored 39 of its 68 offensive touchdowns on the ground that season. In 2021, Pulley again ensured the Mustangs offense landed in the Top 10 nationally in points scored per game (38.36) and an undefeated regular season (10-0). The Mustangs reached their highest-ever national ranking in 2021, ranking at No. 5 in the second-to-last week of the regular season. Monroe finished the season at No. 6 in the NJCAA Rankings, and earned its third straight bowl-game appearance. Before joining Monroe, Pulley was the offensive coordinator at Stamford High School in Stamford, Conn. Under his tutelage, Stamford’s offense posted a record-breaking season, averaging 35 points and over 400 yards per game. Pulley began his coaching career in 2011, coaching running backs at Vineland High School in Vineland, N.J. Pulley earned bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in 2005, and his master’s in Sports Management from Drexel University in 2011.

Johan Williams
Associate Head Coach
Having a proven track record of success on special teams and the defensive side the ball, defensive coordinator/associate head Johan Williams just completed his fifth season with the Mustangs in 2019. During his tenure, the defense has been elevated to be one of the tops in the country finishing no lower than ninth nationally the past four seasons. Prior to joining the Monroe University staff, Williams spent five seasons overseas coaching in Denmark. During his time there he was the special team’s coordinator and defensive line coach for team Denmark, which competed in international games. During his with the national team in Denmark, the team reached the rank of sixth in Europe out of 41 our national teams winning the European Championship in the B division in 2013, the highest Denmark was ever ranked, along with its first European championship. Williams also coached a national team, the Herlev Rebels, in which he had turned a program around into becoming a perennial playoff team, reaching the postseason four times and the semifinals twice. Under Williams, the Rebels went on to their winningest season in team history with a 9-3 record in 2012. Before Williams went overseas, he made a four-year stop at Wagner College with legendary coach Walt Hameline, where he coached the defensive line and was also the special team’s coordinator. During his time there, his special teams units consistently finished in the Top-20 in the nation statistically for production. Williams' first college position was at Iona College under Fred Mariani, where he once again coached the defensive line and was also the special teams coordinator. In 2005, Williams' special teams unit ranked No. 1 in punt defense, only allowing 2.2 yards per return. His special teams unit also finished 18th in punting, and 11th in kickoff coverage. Anquane Nealy
Assistant Coach
Nealy came to Monroe from Southwestern Prep (Connecticut) where he coached the secondary and assisted the head coach in game preparation. His work was obviously successful as he was part of the coaching team that vaulted the Grizzlies to an undefeated regular season and #3 national ranking. At Monroe, Neely coaches the wide receivers and assistants with recruiting and offensive game planning. A keen evaluator of talent, Coach Nealy is also a fine developer of talent so that athletes reach their potential. This stems from his background in working with children as a rec. specialist in the PAL.
