Zach Grant

Head Coach

Grant began his collegiate basketball journey at Barton College, competing in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas from 2015 to 2019. Over his four-year career with the Bulldogs, Grant totaled 567 points, 287 assists, and helped lead the program to 79 wins. He cemented his place in school history by recording the 2nd-best single-season three-point shooting percentage in program history. He also ranks 10th all-time in single season assist record and 6th in games played, reflecting his steady leadership and on-court impact.   After graduation, Grant began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for the Lander University men’s basketball team. During the 2019 season, he helped guide the Bearcats to a Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship and a 23-8 overall record.   In 2020, he transitioned to the women’s basketball staff at Lander as an assistant coach. During the 2020–2021 season, the Bearcats achieved a remarkable 20-2 record, capturing the Regular Season, Conference Tournament, and Regional Tournament titles. The season culminated in the program’s first-ever NCAA Division II Final Four appearance — a historic milestone for Lander women’s basketball.   Grant joined the University of Mount Olive men’s basketball program in 2022 as the head assistant coach. In the 2023–2024 season, he stepped into the role of interim head coach, leading the team through a transitional year and finishing with a 7-22 overall record. His leadership and development laid the foundation for future growth.   Recognizing his potential and impact, Mount Olive officially named Grant the head men’s basketball coach for the 2024–2025 season. In his first full year at the helm, he guided the Trojans to a 12-18 record and secured a conference tournament win, signaling a positive step forward for the program.   Grant holds a bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in business from Barton College and earned a master’s degree in education from Lander University.
