Chip Spiron returned to his alma mater in fall 2002 to become Mount Olive’s head men’s golf coach. He added the title of head women’s golf coach in spring 2004. Spiron is one of only three head coaches in University of Mount Olive history to earn conference coach of the year honors in two different sports. Spiron was named the 2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Men’s Golf Coach of the Year and was named Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Coach of the Year three consecutive years in 2011, 2012 and 2013. During the 2020-21 season, the men's team captured their first Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship and team at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Spiron earned a degree in sports management at Mount Olive after transferring from Division I UNC-Wilmington prior to his junior year. Spiron held the Trojan record for lowest career average until it was broken after the conclusion of the 2010-11 season. In addition to his college coaching experience, Spiron has served as assistant golf pro at Walnut Creek Country Club and Southern Wayne Country Club. Spiron and his wife Vanessa are parents of two sons Charlie and Jameson.  Year-By-Year Coaching Record Men Year Conference Finish NCAA Tournament Appearances NCAA National Championship Appearances (Individual) 2020-21 Tournament Champions NCAA Regional (15th) 2019-20 Championships canceled Covid-19 2018-19 4th 2017-18 7th 2016-17 6th 2015-16 3rd NCAA Regional Individual: Nick Adams (50th) 2014-15 T-5th 2013-14 4th NCAA National Individual: Sebastian Andersen (T-31) 2012-13 6th NCAA Regional 2011-12 7th NCAA Regional (19th) 2010-11 6th NCAA Regional 2009-10 7th 2008-09 8th 2007-08 7th NCAA Regional 2006-07 7th NCAA Regional 2005-06 T-7th NCAA Regional 2004-05 T-7th NCAA Regional 2003-04 10th 2002-03 9th Year-By-Year Coaching Record Women Year Conference Finish NCAA Tournament Appearances NCAA National Championship Appearances (Individual) 2020-21 Tournament Runner-Up 2019-20 Championships canceled Covid-19 2018-19 Tournament Runner-Up 2017-18 6th 2016-17 3rd 2015-16 5th NCAA Regional Individual: Julie Loennechen (T-61) 2014-15 T-5th 2013-14 Tournament Runner-Up 2012-13 Tournament Champion 2011-12 Tournament Runner-Up NCAA Regional Individual Valentina Urquiola (T-19th) 2010-11 4th 2009-10 5th 2008-09 5th 2007-08 6th 2006-07 6th 2005-06 3rd
