Mount Royal University Men's Basketball

Dobell has been with the Cougars Mens Basketball team for the better part of two decades. He started as a player for the Cougars and became an assistant coach upon graduation in 1995. He remained in that position for three more years until he was lured away by NAIT to become their head coach. In 2004 Marc returned as the head coach of the Cougars and it has been his program ever since. Over his time with both Mount Royal and NAIT, Dobell has amassed quite the collection of hardware winning ACAC Coach of the Year six times. He was also named the 2004 CCAA National Coach of the year.  Marc took home seven ACAC titles between the two squads and a national title with both NAIT (2003) and Mount Royal (2009). Dobell is also very involved with Alberta Basketball as he was the head coach of the provincial junior team in 1999 and 2000. In 2003 and 2009 he was recognized as the Alberta Basketball Coach of the Year. The programs recruiting spectrum has grown exponentially this past season as Dobell has scoured the globe to fill out his lineup this season. There will be a considerable American flavour in 2016-17 as three players from south of the border will suit up for MRU.

Josh Mullen joined Mount Royal University in April 2024 as the Head Coach of the Men's Basketball team. Before taking on this role, Josh served as the Lead Assistant Coach for the Victoria Vikes men's basketball program, where he helped guide the team to three consecutive Canada West Championships. He has also been the Head Coach and Program Director for Vikes Nation, the Senior Boys Head Coach at Mulgrave School, and an Assistant Coach for Kitsilano Senior Boys Basketball. Josh holds a Master of Education in Coaching Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Social Studies. His wealth of coaching experience and his success at various levels of basketball make him a valuable asset to the Cougars' basketball program as he continues to build on their success and lead the team to new heights.
