Daniel Drury
Head Coach
Drury was promoted Head Swimming Coach and Director of Aquatics prior to the 2015-16 season after serving as the assistant coach for the men's and women's swimming programs for two years. He becomes the third head coach in the history of the men's and women's swimming programs. Drury takes over a pair of Knights teams that have seen more success in recent history than any other time in the programs tenure. The womens swimming team has won the Skyline Conference Championship for four straight seasons, and the mens team has made its best showings at the Skyline Conference Championship meet in the programs history by finishing second in each of the past two seasons. In his two years as assistant coach for the mens and womens swimming teams, Drury has helped guide the womens team to a pair of Skyline Conference Championships, and the mens team to back-to-back second place finishes at the championship meet. The womens team holds an overall record of 18-7 with a perfect 11-0 record in Skyline meets in Drurys two seasons, and the mens team has gone 12-11 with a 6-3 mark against conference opponents. In addition to its Skyline Conference success, the womens swimming team has steadily improved its performance at the Metropolitan Conference Championship meet at the end of each season. After placing 14th overall for three consecutive seasons, the Knights jumped up to 10th place in 2015 for their best-ever finish at the meet. Drury has also coached two Skyline Womens Swimmers of the Year, as well as a pair of Skyline Rookies of the Year, with one coming from the mens team and the other from the womens team. Drury is a certified swimming coach through USA Swimming, as well as a certified lifeguard instructor through the Red Cross. He recently spent time coaching with New York Citys AGUA Swim Club, operating out of Asphalt Green on Manhattans Upper East Side. Prior to coaching, he spent four years working full-time in the fitness industry, both in customer service and running athletic programs and summer camps for children. Drury swam for five years with Coach Scott Warners program at Valley Central High School in Montgomery, N.Y. Drury graduated from Mount Saint Mary in 2010 with a bachelors degree in business administration with a minor in Spanish language and culture. He then continued his education at Mount Saint Mary, completing his masters degree in business administration (MBA) in 2012. Drury is a native of Walden, N.Y., and currently resides in Newburgh.
