Bob Jastrab
Head Coach
Jastrab captured his 100th career win against L.A. Harbor on November 1st. In 2013, the program captured its eighth consecutive bowl championship, defeating Ventura College, 42-14, in the Golden State Bowl. The team finished with another outstanding record of 9 wins and 2 losses. More importantly, over 30 players transferred to 4-year University Institutions to further their athletic and academic careers. 2012, was another great season for Jastrab, who lead the Mounties to an undefeated regular season capturing the conference title and a bowl game championship for the seventh consecutive time. The team advanced to their 6th consecutive So Cal Championship, where they fell short to eventual state champion, Bakersfield College. In 2011, Jastrab led the team to the State Championships for an amazing fifth consecutive year. He also led the Mounties to their 6th consecutive Bowl and Conference Championship, as well as their 5th consecutive Southern California Championship. The team finished the season ranked #2 in the state. Jastrab was named the Conference (5th consecutive) and State Region IV Coach of the Year. In 2010, Jastrab lead the team to an undefeated record of 13-0 and a second consecutive state and national championship. It also marked the fourth straight year that the Mounties appeared in the California State Championship Game. Jastrab received the highest honor bestowed upon a community college football coach, being named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), National Community College Coach of the Year. He was also named State Coach of the Year as well as Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. After serving 11 years as an Assistant Coach at Mt. San Antonio College, Bob was named Head Coach in 2005. He has held a variety of positions at Mt. SAC, including Associate Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive/Defensive Line Coach. Bob began his football coaching career in 1989 at Mt. SAC. In 1993, he accepted a graduate assistant position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). During his tenure with the Rebels, UNLV captured the 1994 Las Vegas Bowl with a win over Central Michigan. After leaving Las Vegas, he became the offensive coordinator at Damascus High School and helped propel them to the 1996 Maryland 3A-State Championship. He returned to Mt. SAC in 1997 and helped the Mounties to an undefeated season, capturing the National and State Community College Football Championships. Bob prepped at Edgewood High School in West Covina where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He played two seasons at Mt. SAC (82-83) as a defensive lineman, earning Mountie of the Year Honors as well as Community College All-American status. He received a scholarship to the University of Miami, Florida (84-85) and was part of a Fiesta and Sugar Bowl team. As a player, Bob was exposed to some exceptionally gifted coaches and their successful coaching philosophies including reknown coaches Jimmy Johnson, Howard Schnellenberger, Gary Stevens, Butch Davis, Bill Fisk and Mal Eaton. Bob graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Miami, Florida and received his Masters Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Bob has been a full-time Professor of Physical Education at Mt. SAC since 2000, is an avid golfer and loves to travel. He lives in La Verne with his lovely wife Barbara and their two sons, Joshua and Sean.

Lenny Rodriguez
Assistant Coach
Rodriguez served in various capacities, including outside linebackers coach, safeties and inside linebackers coach, and defensive coordinator. During his five years as defensive coordinator, Mt. SAC captured the 1997 community college national championship (top 5 national defensive ranking), appeared in the Sports Headquarters' Southern California Bowl (1993) and the Simple Green Orange County Classic (1995). During his illustrious coaching career, Rodriguez was instrumental in developing the talents of many future NFL Superstars including Quincy Black (New Mexico, Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Antonio Pierce (Mt. SAC, Arizona, N.Y. Giants), Chris McAlister (Mt. SAC, Arizona, Baltimore Ravens) and Brian Urlacher (New Mexico, Chicago Bears), Rodriguez's played two years of football for the Mounties (1974-75), before finishing his collegiate career at the University of San Diego (1976-77), where he was a two-year starter. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Ashford University (Iowa). Rodriguez is married to the former Phyllis Romero, his lovely wife since 1997.

Robert Purcell Jr.
Assistant Coach
Purcell attended Century High School in Santa Ana, where he participated in Track and Field. After graduating he attended Rancho Santiago College (Santa Ana College), where he played on the football team at center and long snapper.He finished his career at Azusa Pacific University. Purcell graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English from Azusa Pacific University and a Master Degree in Physical Education. Purcell resides in Cypress with his lovely wife Laura, sons Summit and Robert Jr. along with two Hound Dogs, Tulip and Tooa.

Leroy Johnson
Assistant Coach
Johnson prepped at Pomona High School and attended Mt. SAC where he played two seasons (88-89) at defensive back, earning first team all-conference honors during both seasons. Johnson received his bachelors degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology from the University of La Verne. He is President of Against All Odds, a scholastic tutoring company based in Long Beach. Johnson resides in Long Beach with his beautiful wife Lavette and their two lovely daughters Shavonn and Brandee Able.
