Muskingum University Men's Baseball

Bio Ryan Schwartz joined the Muskingum baseball program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2025. His responsibilities will include being the catching coach, the assistant hitting coach, and camp coordinator. Before joining the coaching staff, Schwartz was a 5-year letterwinner for the Fighting Muskie Baseball Program. Schwartz was a .285 hitter with 80 RBI’s, 115 hits, and had 36 doubles in his career. Schwartz graduated from Muskingum in 2025 with a B.A. in Media Production.

Bio Mark Rider rejoined the Muskingum Baseball Staff in the summer of 2021. Rider was previously on staff from 1997-1999. Rider ’88, boasts a memorable coaching career at the high school level, as an intervention specialist and athletic director for 17 years. Rider was the head baseball coach at John Glenn High School from 1989-1996, then again from 2000-2003. He then was the Athletic Director at John Glenn from 2003-2008 and during that time was the assistant baseball coach at John Glenn. From 2009-2021, he was the Athletic Director at Maysville High School. Rider was also an MLB area scout for the Cincinnati Reds from 1998-2002. Rider is currently an intervention specialist at Cambridge High School and is the defensive coordinator for the Bobcats Football Team. Rider was a 4-year member of the baseball team, where he was an honorable mention Academic OAC selection his senior year and was a .323 career hitter, with 46 career appearances on the mound, a 4.17 career ERA, and 12 saves, a program record. He was also a member of the MACE Club during his time at Muskingum. Rider, a Zanesville native, graduated from Muskingum in 1988 with a degree in history with a K-12 certification as an Intervention Specialist.

Bio Doug Miller joined the Muskingum University Baseball coaching staff in the summer of 2024. Coach Miller arrives in New Concord after an illustrious 42-year high school coaching career, 35 of those years coming at Canton Central Catholic High School, and 7 coming at East Canton High School. Miller is 3rd all-time in state history with 790 career wins. His storied career also includes 3 state championship victories, six regional titles, and 13 district titles. Miller is a 2006 Ohio Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee and a 2023 National High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee. Along with his baseball career, during his time at CCC, Miller was also the assistant Athletic Director for 12 years, head Athletic Director for 2 years, an assistant football coach for 17 years, the head girls basketball coach for 9 years, and the head boys basketball coach for 13 years. A lifelong educator, he also taught world history, sociology and health/physical education during his time at CCC. Miller was also the head Athletic Director at East Canton for 6 years. Miller played baseball at and earned his bachelor’s degree from Malone College.

Bio Lane Goetz joined the Muskie Baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2025. Prior to joining the staff, Goetz was a pitcher for the Fighting Muskies for 3 years. Goetz assists with the Muskie pitching staff on a day-to-day basis and is the team’s project management leader. Goetz is responsible for the upgrades in the Mose Morehead Field dugouts, as well as the addition to the home bullpen area. Goetz, a Pataskala, OH native, will graduate from Muskingum in the Spring of 2026 with a degree in General Engineering.

Winters enters his sixth season as an assistant coach for the Muskingum University baseball team. Winters, a graduate of Marietta College and All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, was a member of the Pioneers' 2006 National Championship team and 2007 Mid-East Champion and World Series squad. Over his 116-game career at Marietta, Winters batted .308 with 19 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 52 runs and 63 RBIs. Prior to arriving in New Concord, Winters served as an assistant coach on the Marietta staff. Winters graduated with a B.A. in management from Marietta in 2008.

Bio Yuzo Ishioka joined the Muskingum Baseball Staff in the fall of 2025 as a student assistant coach. He will be responsible for assisting the pitching staff with day-to-day development. Before joining the staff, Ishioka pitched at D2 Western Oregon University for two seasons, where he threw 19.2 innings with a 2.75 ERA and struck out 11 batters. In 2025, Ishioka pitched for the Fighting Muskies, throwing 6.1 innings out of the bullpen, striking out 4 batters with an ERA of 2.84. Ishioka hails from Tokyo, Japan and is a communication major. He will graduate from Muskingum in the spring of 2026.

Bio David Stiles joined the Muskie Baseball staff in the Fall of 2024. He is responsible for directing all the program’s analytical efforts as well as all metric player development goals. Stiles is also responsible for creating scouting reports on opponents and assisting with the pitching staff on a day-to-day basis. Stiles, a senior from Vienna, Va., will graduate in the spring of 2026 from Muskingum with a degree in Sports Management, Business Management, Marketing, and Economics.
