Trey Bruton

Head Coach

Trey Bruton the Head Track and Field and Cross Country Coach for the Panthers. Bruton is a Kansas native hailing from Meriden, Kansas. Prior to NCCC Coach Bruton spent three and a half years at Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in Creston, IA. He served as the Head Cross Country coach, as well as Head Track and Field coach during his time at SWCC. Before coaching at Southwestern, Bruton was employed as a Cross Country coach and adjunct instructor for MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. Bruton began his coaching career at NCAA Division I Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, as a volunteer coach for Cross Country and Track and Field, while working toward his master's degree. He worked closely with the mid-distance and distance athletes, as well as the pole vault and high jump athletes. During his time with the Leathernecks, they produced several NCAA West Region qualifiers, one NCAA championship qualifier, and an NCAA All-American in the triple jump. As a collegiate athlete, Bruton ran Cross Country and Track at Southwestern College in Winfield, KS. During his time for the Builders, he was a six-time NAIA national qualifier three times in Cross Country and three times in Track & Field. Bruton, who ran for NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Jim Helmer, was named to the KCAC all-conference teams two consecutive years in Cross Country and three consecutive years in Track & Field. He earned honors as a Track & Field Academic All-American in 2014. Bruton is still highly involved in running and holds personal record of 1:11:58 in the Half Marathon and has qualified for the Boston Marathon twice. Bruton earned a Master's Degree in Physics from Western Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, with a minor in Business Administration, from Southwestern College.

Antwon Hicks

Assistant Coach

Hicks volunteers as the hurdles and jumps coach at NCCC. The Hot Springs, Arkansas native is an elite track and field athlete who specializes in the 110 meter hurdles. Hicks captured many state high school titles in the jumps and hurdle events which served as a catalyst to a stellar collegiate career. While attending the University of Mississippi he became a U.S. and World Junior champion, 2- time NCAA champion, and 6-time All American.   Hicks also received a bachelors degree in sociology at the completion of his collegiate athletics career at Mississippi. As a post-collegiate track and field athlete he has been a top 20 world ranked hurdler since 2008 finishing 5th in the 110 meter hurdles at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials and narrowly missing making the U.S. Olympic team by one spot in 2012 with a 4th place finish.    Antwon Hicks Assistant Coach ext. 672 Antwon Hicks volunteers as the hurdles and jumps coach at NCCC. Megan Pohlmann

Assistant Coach

Pohlmann enters her first year as assistant track and field coach at NCCC as the throws coach. Raised in Deshler Nebraska, she started competing in sports at Deshler Public School. She was recruited by McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas to throw javelin, shot put, discus, and hammer/weight. During her years at McPherson, she became the record holder for the hammer, won conference titles, qualified for nationals back to back years, helped her team reach a conference title (first time in over 30 years), became NAIA Academic All-American, and was named Champion of Character. Pohlmann has been coached by decorated athletes ranging from All-Americans to National Champions. She has had the honor of even working with Olympian, Michelle Carter. Shareese Hicks

Assistant Coach

Hicks (formerly Woods) enters her first year as head coach at NCCC and brings in 8 years of coaching experience.  Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, she began her journey in the sport competing for Virginias Prince George County High School. Her remarkable work on the track as a high school competitor led to an outstanding collegiate career at the University Of North Carolina-Charlotte. During her tenure at UNC-Charlotte, she became the most decorated athlete in school history garnering numerous All-American awards as well as shattering several school and conference records. She also received a B.A. in Mass Media Communications.   Hicks has also achieved commendable awards in the professional ranks of track and field. Her most notable accomplishments are 2008 USA Indoor 400 meter Champion, and two- time World Indoor Championships 400 and 4x400 meter Bronze Medalist with a time of 51.41 seconds.
