Erica Ledy

Head Coach

Erica Ledy was named the head coach of the New England College women's basketball team prior to the 2002-03 season. She holds a career 461-413 record and is the winningest coach in NEC history. Coach Ledy led the 'Grims to back-to-back conference championships in 2018-19 and 2019-20, culminating in NCAA tournament berths. Overall, Ledy has led her team to five conference tournament games and 13 playoff appearances, most recently advancing to the GNAC Quarterfinals in 2023-24.  The Ledy-led championship in 2018-19 was the first conference title for NEC in 26 years. In 2014-15, Ledy was instrumental in leading the Pilgrims to the winningest season in program history, amassing 21 wins, and taking the team to the North Atlantic Conference Championship game. Two years later, the Pilgrims returned to the NAC championship for the second time in three years with an identical 21-7 record. Prior to New England College, Ledy was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Northern Colorado where she led the team to the North Central Conference post-season tournament.  She has also spent time as the head coach at both Northwood University and Lake Superior State University.  While at Lake Superior State, Ledy led her team to two DII Sweet 16 appearances and was named Basketball Coaches' Association of Michigan Women's College Coach of the Year in 1994.  Ledy has since been inducted into the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Ledy earned her psychology degree at Lake Superior State University where she was a four-year captain of the women’s varsity basketball team and gathered GLIAC All-Conference honors and GLIAC All-Academic honors.  She went on to receive her masters in Community College Education with an emphasis in administration and supervision from Northern Michigan University.

Amy Girard

Assistant Coach

Amy Girard completed her ninth season as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. A graduate of New England College, Girard earned her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology in 2005.  While at NEC Girard was a two-sport athlete playing both basketball and softball.  Girard earned several accolades both on the court and on the diamond being named NEC Female Defensive Player of the Year once and was the women’s basketball and softball coaches’ award recipient in both basketball and softball.  Girard earned her Master’s in Education in 2010 from New England College.  In addition to her coaching duties, Girard is a full-time elementary physical education teacher at the Henniker Community School.

Kirsten Morrison

Coach

Kirsten Morrison was named the head coach of the New England College women's volleyball program in April 2018. Morrison quickly became the program leader in wins and currently holds 84 career coaching victories following the conclusion of the 2024 season. In her time at NEC, she has led the 'Grims to three NECC Championship appearances, one NECC Semifinals, and two GNAC Play-In Round matchups. Morrison came to NEC from UMass Boston, where she was an assistant coach for two seasons. She aided the Beacons to a 44-21 overall record with two Little East conference championship titles. In 2016, the team reached the NCAA Regional Semifinal. She previously graduated from UMass Boston in 2015 with a bachelor's in Exercise Health Science. During her collegiate playing career, Morrison helped the UMB volleyball program to three Little East Conference championship titles and NCAA Regional championships in 2012 and 2013. She ended her college career ranked fifth in school history with 853 kills and third all-time with 277 total blocks. Kirsten also had a very successful playing career as a member of the Beacon's basketball team where she was a 1,000 point scorer, finishing her career third all-time in field goal percentage, fourth in both points and rebounds, and tied for seventh in blocks. In her final year at UMB, Morrison was a member of the UMass-Boston softball team. She was an eight-time All-LEC honoree and was the first female student-athlete in school history to earn All-Conference in three different sports.
