At the helm of the Bears, Kaley had a record of 185-33, 58-16 in conference play (the highest career winning percentage in NCAA Division I and II lacrosse history), and he coached 87 USILA All-Americans. He also stands as the only coach in NYIT lacrosse history to bring home an NCAA National Championship- which he accomplished four times (1997, 2003, 2005 and 2008). "Coach Kaley has dedicated much of his professional career towards building the men's lacrosse program at NYIT. He has always provided a wealth of positive insight and knowledge, along with serving as a personal mentor to NYIT student-athletes assisting them with their development both on and off the fields of competition," commented Bailey. "We can't thank him enough for his tireless service to the institution and its student-athletes. I look forward to having him continue to serve the program as Head Coach Emeritus." Kaley restarted the program after it was disbanded in the early 1970's and led the bears to four national championships, whilst ranking in the top five in the country in all 17 years. For his efforts he was named Howdy Meyers Man of the Year in 2009 by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). "It's always great to see Coach Kaley on campus, and now as a Head Coach Emeritus, I feel honored to have such a larger-than-life figure back that means so much to the history of the NYIT lacrosse program," commented Head Coach Bill Dunn. "I always refer to Coach Kaley with my student-athletes and now they will have the opportunity to use him as a reference and have access to his wealth of knowledge not only to lacrosse but of life. Coach will give definitely help to reconnect the alumni, parents and friends of NYIT Lacrosse." Kaley was named the Division II United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coach of the Year in 1996 and in 1997, when he guided the NYIT Bears to their first Division II National Championship, and in 2002 and 2008making him the only coach to earn USILA Coach of the Year honors four times. He has compiled a career coaching record of 501-201, and served as an assistant coach on the U.S. National Lacrosse Team.
