Hurtault was selected as the Head Coach of New York University's mens and womens cross country and track & field teams in June 2016, following a two-year stint as an assistant coach with the Violets. Hurtault helped lead NYU to a successful season in 2015-16, as five Violets garnered All-America honors. Budd Brown finished in eighth place at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, while the women's 4x400 relay team (Mary Conti, Ireland Gibson, Justina Sanders-Schifano, and Drew Washington) finished in fifth place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Additionally, Lily Corsaro finished in 29th place at the 2015 NCAA Atlantic Regional in cross country and earned a spot in the National Championship. Under Hurtaults leadership, the mens team placed third at both the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor and Outdoor Championships, while the women finished sixth at both meets. Hurtlaults student-athletes also performed well in their classrooms, as 18 cross country runners (10 men, 8 women) received UAA Fall Sport All-Academic honors. During the indoor season, 33 Violets (17 women, 16 men) earned UAA Winter Sport All-Academic accolades, while 35 (20 men, 15 women) were honored outdoors with UAA Spring Sport All-Academic recognition. In addition, three women (Washington, Lydia Guo, Sarah Sisk) and two men (Nick Karam, Matthew Powers) earned USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic honors. In Hurtaults first NYU campaign in 2014-15, two runners qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Sebastian Oja of the mens team and Sara Czuprynski of the womens squad each represented NYU following strong showings at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships. Hurtaults first indoor track season at NYU was highlighted by a fourth-place finish by the mens team at the UAA Championships. Zac Kish finished third in the 800m and combined with Brown, Chevaun Samuels and Malcolm Montilus on the Violets third-place 4x400m relay team. The outdoor season was also a success in 14-15, as two members of the mens team qualified for the NCAA Championships. Brown competed in the 400m sprint while Johnny Lake represented NYU in the 3,000m steeplechase. The womens season was highlighted by second-place finishes from Kristina Harris in the 100m and 200m sprints at the UAA Championships. A two-time Olympian, Hurtault represented the Commonwealth of Dominica in the 400 meters at both the Beijing (2008) and London (2012) Olympic Games. A 2007 graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, Hurtault joined NYU after spending the previous three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach with his alma mater. Prior to his time with the Lions, Hurtault also spent three seasons serving in the same capacity with Florida State University. Hurtault began competing professionally in 2007, focusing in the 400 meters. In addition to his participation in the two Olympic Games, he also competed in three World Championships (2009, 2011, 2014), finishing as a semifinalist in 2009 and 2011. Hurtault also competed in two Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014), finishing as a finalist in 2010. Prior to his time in the professional ranks, Hurtault was an 11-time First Team All-Ivy League performer for the Lions. During his undergraduate career, Hurtault went undefeated within Ivy competition and was an eight-time champion in the 400 meters. As a senior, he served as a team captain, earned the Connie S. Maniatty Award as Columbias Most Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete and earned NCAA Division I All-America honors for indoor and outdoor track & field. A native of Aberdeen, NJ, Hurtault resides in New York City.
