Erison Hurtault

Head Coach

Hurtault was selected as the Head Coach of New York University's mens and womens cross country and track & field teams in June 2016, following a two-year stint as an assistant coach with the Violets.  Hurtault helped lead NYU to a successful season in 2015-16, as five Violets garnered All-America honors. Budd Brown finished in eighth place at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, while the women's 4x400 relay team (Mary Conti, Ireland Gibson, Justina Sanders-Schifano, and Drew Washington) finished in fifth place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Additionally, Lily Corsaro finished in 29th place at the 2015 NCAA Atlantic Regional in cross country and earned a spot in the National Championship. Under Hurtaults leadership, the mens team placed third at both the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor and Outdoor Championships, while the women finished sixth at both meets. Hurtlaults student-athletes also performed well in their classrooms, as 18 cross country runners (10 men, 8 women) received UAA Fall Sport All-Academic honors. During the indoor season, 33 Violets (17 women, 16 men) earned UAA Winter Sport All-Academic accolades, while 35 (20 men, 15 women) were honored outdoors with UAA Spring Sport All-Academic recognition. In addition, three women (Washington, Lydia Guo, Sarah Sisk) and two men (Nick Karam, Matthew Powers) earned USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic honors.          In Hurtaults first NYU campaign in 2014-15, two runners qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Sebastian Oja of the mens team and Sara Czuprynski of the womens squad each represented NYU following strong showings at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships. Hurtaults first indoor track season at NYU was highlighted by a fourth-place finish by the mens team at the UAA Championships. Zac Kish finished third in the 800m and combined with Brown, Chevaun Samuels and Malcolm Montilus on the Violets third-place 4x400m relay team.   The outdoor season was also a success in 14-15, as two members of the mens team qualified for the NCAA Championships. Brown competed in the 400m sprint while Johnny Lake represented NYU in the 3,000m steeplechase. The womens season was highlighted by second-place finishes from Kristina Harris in the 100m and 200m sprints at the UAA Championships.   A two-time Olympian, Hurtault represented the Commonwealth of Dominica in the 400 meters at both the Beijing (2008) and London (2012) Olympic Games.                                                          A 2007 graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, Hurtault joined NYU after spending the previous three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach with his alma mater. Prior to his time with the Lions, Hurtault also spent three seasons serving in the same capacity with Florida State University.   Hurtault began competing professionally in 2007, focusing in the 400 meters. In addition to his participation in the two Olympic Games, he also competed in three World Championships (2009, 2011, 2014), finishing as a semifinalist in 2009 and 2011. Hurtault also competed in two Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014), finishing as a finalist in 2010. Prior to his time in the professional ranks, Hurtault was an 11-time First Team All-Ivy League performer for the Lions. During his undergraduate career, Hurtault went undefeated within Ivy competition and was an eight-time champion in the 400 meters. As a senior, he served as a team captain, earned the Connie S. Maniatty Award as Columbias Most Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete and earned NCAA Division I All-America honors for indoor and outdoor track & field. A native of Aberdeen, NJ, Hurtault resides in New York City.

Boylan-Pett Head Coach, Mens and Womens Cross Country and Track & Field   Alma Mater: Columbia University 05 Season as Head Coach: Second (XC and T&F)   Will Boylan-Pett is in his second season as Head Coach of the New York University mens and womens cross country and track & field teams.   In 2014-15, two of Boylan-Petts runners qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Mason, OH. Senior Sebastian Oja of the mens team and senior Sara Czuprynski of the womens squad each qualified for the event with great showings at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships.   Boylan-Petts first indoor track season at NYU was highlighted with a fourth-place finish by the mens team at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. In addition, senior pole vaulter Tom Longabaugh was selected CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) First Team Academic All-District 3      A 2005 graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, Boylan-Pett joined NYU after spending five seasons as an assistant coach with the mens and womens cross country and track & field teams at his alma mater.   During his time with the Lions, Boylan-Pett helped lead the mens cross country team to its first-ever NCAA Championship appearances (2011, 2012, 2013), as well as to two Ivy League Championships (2009, 2013). He also served as the Lions lead recruiter. In 2014, Boylan-Pett coached the Lions first-ever indoor NCAA All-Americans in both the distance medley relay and the mile.   Overall, from 2010-14 Boylan-Pett directly oversaw 37 NCAA Regional qualifying student-athletes, highlighted by a collegiate-best six runners in the 1,500-meter race in 2012. That same season, he coached All-Ivy distance runner Kyle Merber (12) to the American collegiate 1,500m record (3:35.59).   While a student at Columbia, Boylan-Pett was a four-year member of the Lions cross country and track & field teams. Senior Zac Kish finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:55.19 and ran with teammates sophomore Budd Brown, sophomore Chevaun Samuels and freshman Malcolm Montilus on the Violets third-place 4x400m relay team.   The outdoor season was also a success, as two members of the mens team qualified for the NCAA Championships. Brown competed in the 400m sprint while senior Johnny Lake represented NYU in the 3,000m steeplechase. The womens season was highlighted by a second-place finish from junior Kristina Harris in the 100m sprint at the UAA Championships.   Smith came to NYU after a successful collegiate career at the University of Cincinnati. A 2005 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature, he competed for the Bearcats track & field and cross country team for four seasons. At Cincinnati he was named All-Conference USA in cross country as a sophomore, junior and senior, and All-Conference USA in the 10,000m as a junior and senior. After graduating, Smith went on to earn a masters degree in English literature from The George Washington University in 2008. He also has a masters of philosophy in English literature (MPhil), which he obtained in 2015 from GWU. Smith, who has also spent time as an adjunct professor at George Washington, has competed in multiple marathons. A native of Fostoria, OH, Smith resides in Brooklyn, NY. Tory Worthen

Assistant Coach

Worthen is in her second year as an assistant coach with the New York University men's and women's track & field teams. Her primary responsibilities include assisting the Violets' pole vaulters and jumpers. In 2015, pole vaulter Tom Longabaugh had an impressive senior season under Worthens tutelage, recording a season-best height of 4.58m at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships. Longabaugh, who earned two University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors during the indoor season, was also selected CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) First Team Academic All-District 3. Worthen came to NYU after a successful collegiate career at Princeton University. A 2013 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, she produced a combined eight Ivy League pole vault titles. In 2012, Worthen broke Princetons and the Ivy Leagues indoor pole vault record by clearing 136-1/4. Over the course of her four years with the Tigers, Worthen won five ECAC Pole Vault Championships (3 indoor, 2 outdoor) and was a two-time Penn Relays medalist (2010, 2013).     Worthen, who is currently working toward a masters degree in public health with a concentration in nutrition at NYUs Global Institute of Public Health, also excelled in the classroom at Princeton. She earned Academic All-Ivy selections each winter and spring from 2010-13. Pole Vault Safety Certified, Worthen is also trained in strength and conditioning techniques and as a Level 8 Gymnast. A native of Holland, PA, Worthen currently resides in Manhattan.
