Kent Notestine

Assistant Coach

Notestine is entering his 12th year as the head coach of the Newman mens golf program in 2016-17. Taking over the Jets one year before they achieved full membership in the Heartland Conference and NCAA Division II, Notestine has led the team to continual improvement. The team has won six event championships as a group, and 10 individuals have earned the top spot at a tournament. The 2010-11 squad captured the programs first Heartland title, pushing three individuals into the top eight, and made its second straight trip to NCAA regional play, where the Jets finished 10th. Notestine has been a member of the South Central Section of the PGA of America for over 30 years and spent 23 years as a golf professional at Chanute Country Club in Chanute, Kansas and Rolling Hills Country Club in Wichita.  He was a member of the Caney High School golf team that won three Kansas state championships, and won five city championships and was a quarterfinalist in the Kansas Amateur.  As a professional in the Kansas chapter, Notestine won the Junior Golf Leader award in 1993, and was the Kansas Chapter Player of the Year in 1995. He qualified for the National Senior Club Professional Championship in 1999, 2002 and 2005.  Notestine has been married 52 years to his wife, Karen, and has two children, a son, Kelly, and a daughter, Kristen. He has three grandchildren. Kent Notestine is entering his 12th year as the head coach of the Newman mens golf program in 2016-17.
