Newman University Men's Wrestling

Mitch Arnold is in his first year as head coach in the 2025-2026 season.  This is the third stint on the staff for Arnold. He rejoined the Jets after being an assistant coach from 2012-2016 and then again in 2023-2024. In between stints as a Newman assistant coach, Arnold spent years coaching at Andover Central High School and Bishop Carroll High School.  Mitch was a four year student-athlete for the Newman Wrestling program. As a Jet, he was two-time NCAA National Qualifier in 2010 and 2012, and the first NCAA Qualifier for the Newman Wrestling program. As a student at Newman, Mitch graduated with his degree in Communications in 2013.  Prior to NU, Mitch attended Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita where he led his team to three state championships. Bishop Carroll was ranked 16th in the nation in 2007 & 2008. Mitch Arnold is a three-time Kansas State Champion in wrestling and was also a freshman national champion, and a high school All-American.   

Smith is entering his 12th year on the coaching staff with the Newman wrestling program in 2016-17, his eighth as head coach. Beginning with the Jets first foray into NCAA competition, Smith has continuing the process of building a solid program at Newman. That process took its latest step forward in the 2015-16 season, as junior Dustin Reed earned the teams first NCAA All-American honor by finishing fifth at 125 pounds at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. Reed, who became Newman and Smiths eighth national qualifier by heading to nationals for the second year in a row, battled back after falling in his first match of the tournament. His place on the podium capped what was the Jets best season as a member of NCAA Division II. Newman had its best finish ever at the MIAA Championships, placing fifth and seeing four wrestlers push into the top four at their weight classes, and placed eight out of its nine wrestlers for its best performance in the Kansas Cup. Smith continued to push the Jets to improve in their third year as an affiliate member of the MIAA, which features a number of the nations top wrestling programs. After scoring four points at the teams first trip to the conference championships, Tyler Mies won at 149 pounds and was named Freshman of the Year in 2015. Reed followed that up with a title at 125 and the leagues Wrestler of the Year honor in 2016, as Colton Duhr finished in second at 157, Dalton Weidl third at 197, and Garrett Whitson fourth at 141. Smith closed out his wrestling career at Newman during the Jets first season with a program in 2004-05 after spending his first two years at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas and his junior season at Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota. After finishing out his eligibility, Smith immediately joined Newmans coaching staff, where he was an assistant for four years prior to taking the head job. He received his bachelors degree in business management from Newman in 2005, and his master of business administration from Newman in 2008. In addition to his duties with the Jets, Smith is also the director of business development at CE Machine in Wichita, and is a staff sergeant in the Kansas Air National Guard. He and his wife, Kami, have three children: Brynley, Cooper and Kyan. Ryan Smith is entering his 12th year on the coaching staff with the Newman wrestling program in 2016-17, his eighth as head coach.

Kameron Frame is entering into his fifth season on staff in the 2025-26 season. The Goddard native is a three-time state champion in wrestling and was also a 2014 Folkstyle National All-American and a 2015 Folkstyle National Champion, Freestyle National All-American and Greco All-American. Frame attended Goddard High School, where he led himself and his team to three straight state championships. Goddard was ranked top 50 in the nation in 2016 and 2017. Frame went on to wrestle collegiately at the University of Wyoming and Newman University. He transferred to Newman in 2018. At Newman, he was a two-time NCAA All-American by earning honors in 2019 and 2020. As a student at Newman, Kameron double-majored with degrees in Management Information Systems and Data Analytics. Following his graduation from undergrad, he graduated from Newman University’s masters programs with a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Data Analytics. Frame resides in the greater Wichita area and works full-time as a Data Analyst at Textron Aviation.  

Kendall Frame enters into his sixth season on staff in the 2025-26 season.  Frame was a prominent wrestler at Goddard High School. His team was consistently ranked among the top 50 nationally during his final three years. His impressive track record includes being a 2-time state champion and 3-time finalist. Notably, he achieved the status of a Fargo All American and secured the title of Folkstyle National champion. Frame's wrestling journey continued at the University of Wyoming before he made a transition to Newman University. He showcased his skills in the 157lbs and 165lbs weight categories while at Newman. Frame's academic accomplishments are equally noteworthy, as he graduated from Newman with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and Data Analytics. He further pursued education and obtained a master’s degree in business analytics.

Jace Fisher enters his first season on staff in the 2025-26 season. Fisher was a four year wrestler for the Jets. In his senior season (2024-25) Fisher earned All-American status after securing 6th place at Nationals, qualifying for his second Nationals in his career after placing third at Regionals. During the regular season, Fisher took first place at the UCM Open and the Jet Open this season. This season, Fisher recorded five wins by fall, ten technical fall wins, five major decision wins, and six wins by decision. He has brought in a total of 31 wins. Posted an overall record of 30-9. Earned Scholar All-American status. In his sophomore season, fisher posted an overall record of 26-10 and a second place finish at Regionals to earn his spot at Nationals.
