Kristan Mallet

Mallet begins her 11th season as head field hockey coach and third as assistant director of athletics at Nichols College in 2015-16. Mallet who has previously served head coach of the softball (2010-14) and womens lacrosse (2009) programs also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator. its second turn. In her tenure with the field hockey program, Mallet has guided the Bison to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament in eight of the last 10 seasons including the 2009 title and the programs first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Nichols hosted MIT in the first round on November 11, 2009, marking the first NCAA Championship event ever hosted at the College. Mallet also brought the Bison to the ECAC Semifinals in 2008. From 2013-15, a total of 20 student-athletes were recognized on the Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad. Five of those student-athletes Rachel Dalrymple, Molly Melanson, Jenn Townsend, Victoria Utter, and Andrea Wilson were also named to the CCC Fall Academic All-Conference Team in both 2013 and 2014. In 2015, six student-athletes were tabbed to the all-conference academic team. Mallet guided the field hockey squad to a 13-8 mark and the CCC Championship game in 2012. The Bison knocked off University of New England 3-2 in overtime in the semifinal round before losing in overtime at Endicott in the finals. Four of Mallets student-athletes earned CCC All-Conference honors while six earned academic all-conference honors. Additionally, Nichols received the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team award for the second-straight season, and seven student-athletes were named to 2012 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. One of those student-athletes, Emily Widdison, was later named to the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Third Team. In just her second season at the helm of the field hockey program, Mallet guided the Bison to a 16-7 record in 2007, a season that featured 13 program records falling, including shutouts (8), goals (92), assists (64) and points (248). She guided Nichols to the CCC title game for the first time in over a decade, and to an appearance in the ECAC semifinals. In addition, Mallet coached the CCC Rookie of the Year and three All-CCC selections in 2008. She followed with another record-breaking season in 2009 with the programs second CCC Championship title and first NCAA appearance as the Bison set single-season records for wins (18), winning percentage (.818), and consecutive wins (13). She had three All-CCC selections, an ECAC All-Star and two NFHCA All-Region honorees on her 2009 squad. Prior to coming to Nichols, Mallet served as the head field hockey and softball coach at Cathedral High School in Springfield, Mass., for five years. She guided the softball team to five consecutive Western Mass tournament appearances and to the 2001 Western Mass. title and a state runner-up finish. She was previously an assistant coach for field hockey, softball and womens basketball at Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. Mallet is a 1994 graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. She currently resides in Dudley, Mass. Career Record at Nichols Kristan Mallet Asst. Korzec begins her third season at the helm of the Nichols College softball program in 2017. The Bison opened the 2016 season by splitting their 10 games at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic their best start since 2007 and returned to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs following a one-year hiatus. The squad was led by CCC Second Team pick Kendall Meehan, who Meehan was named to the CCC Second Team and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England Region Third Team. Four student-athletes Kasey Ayer, Christina Barrows, Samantha DiReda, and Courtney Manarky were named to the CCC Academic All-Conference Team. Nichols picked up home conference wins over Western New England, Eastern Nazarene, and Roger Williams, and also swept Curry. In her first season in Dudley, Korzec guided a team in which 13 of its 15 student-athletes were freshmen or sophomores. Meehan was named CCC Rookie of the Year while both Barrows and DiReda were named to the Academic All-Conference Team. Nichols also scored just its second-ever win over perennial power Endicott. Korzec brings more than a decade of coaching experience to Nichols, most recently as the head coach at Monson High School. Last season, Korzec guided the Mustangs to a 20-3 mark and a Bi-County League Championship. Seeded No. 2 in the Western Mass D3 Tournament, Monson advanced to the semifinals. Korzec began her softball coaching career at Palmer High School, where she was the junior varsity coach from 2002-09. While at Palmer, she prepared players for the varsity level by teaching fundamentals, self-discipline, the team above self attitude, and game strategies. In 2010, Korzec began a four-year stint as the assistant varsity coach at Monson, where she worked primarily with the outfielders, catchers, and hitters. A resident of Monson, Mass., Korzec is a graduate of Keene State who is also an accomplished field hockey coach, having taken Palmer to two Western Mass. Semifinals (2001, 2005) during her 13 years at the helm of the program. She saw 10 of her former students advance to play at the collegiate level.   Career Record at Nichols
