Rollie Geiger
Head Coach
Geiger enters his 33nd season as NC State's head cross country coach and architect of one of the nation's premier cross country programs. During Geiger's remarkable tenure as an assistant and head coach, NC State's teams have built a tradition matched by few programs nationally, combining to win 35 Atlantic Coast Conference team championships and 19 individual ACC championships. In addition, Geiger has won six conference championships in track and field since taking over that program in 1984, giving him a conference-record 40 ACC championship teams. NC State has won 70 ACC team titles since Geiger arrived in 1979. Geiger turned over the NC State women's team to Laurie Henes in 2006, but not before Geiger-coached women's teams finished among the top 10 at the AIAW or NCAA Championships 15 times, winning it all in 1979 and 1980. The Pack finished second in 1978, 1987 and 2001, and posted third-place finishes in 1983, 1984 and 1985. The women won seven consecutive ACC championships from 1987-93 and won 20 of 26 ACC titles from the time women's cross country was added as a championship sport in 1978 until Geiger handed over the reins to Henes. Geiger's men's cross country teams have won 15 ACC championships, the latest coming in 2011. The men's program has won 12 conference championships in the last 17 years, and 14 in the last 21. At the national level, Geiger's men's teams have earned nine national top 10 finishes, including an eighth-place finish in 1998, a third-place finish in 1999,a ninth-place finish in 2001, and a 10th-place finish in 2003. In tandem with one another, NC State's men's and women's cross country teams have come to define the sport in the Atlantic Coast Conference. In 1991, Geiger led both teams to ACC championships, the first time any ACCschool won both the men's and women's championships in the same year. His teams repeated their ACC dual titles in 1992, then went on a run of absolute dominance, winning both the men's and women's championships six times in eight years - 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2002. With Geiger leading the men and Henes coaching the women, the Wolfpack won its ninth dual conference championship in 2006, giving NC State nine dual ACC championships in a span of 16 years. When Geiger was named ACC Men's Coach of the Year in 2011, it marked the 12th time in a 16-year span he had been named ACC Coach of the Year for either the men, women, or both. He was men's and/or women's coach of the year eight years in a row, from 1995-2002, and has since been been conference coach of the year in 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2011. In all, Geiger has been named the conference coach of the year 28 times in cross country, and an unprecedented 32 times combined in cross country and track and field. Adding to Geiger's greatness, the 2013 season marked the third consecutive year a Wolfpack runner has earned the ACC Performer of the Year award. Ryan Hill won the award in 2011, while Andrew Colley was the back-to-back recipient in 2012 and 2013. In 1987, the Cross Country Journal recognized NC State as having the nation's outstanding collegiate cross country program. The Wolfpack programs earned that distinction with their second-place finish in the women's NCAA Championships, and a fifth-place finish at the men's nationals. In the classroom, Geiger's runners have embodied the definition of student-athletes. The men's and women's cross country teams each earned Academic All-America status from the United States Cross Country Coaches Association in 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. The women's teams also earned the distinction in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Wolfpack runners have also been regular recipients of the NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Bobby Mack won the scholarship in 2008-09, and John Crews, Stephen Furst and Tibor Vegh all won NCAA postgraduate scholarships in 2007-08. Fourteen NC State cross country runners have won the NCAA scholarship in the last 16 years. Previous winners in that time include Beth Kraft, Katie Sabino, Chris Seaton, Kristin Price, Kristen Hall, Joe Wirgau, Robbie Howell, Chan Pons, Amy Beykirch and Christy Nichols. Following the 1991-92 season, All-America runner David Honea received the prestigious Walter Byers Award as the nation's premier scholar-athlete, in addition to the Jim Weaver Award and the National Science Fellowship Award for his academic accomplishments. All-American Laurie Gomez-Henes won the ACC's Marie James Scholarship as well as an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Well-known on the national level, Geiger coached at the Olympic Festival and in 1987 was named coach of the U.S. National Team for the World Cross Country Championships in Auckland, New Zealand. He has been a featured speaker at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and a member of the U.S. Olympic Development Committee for distance running. Prior to coming to Raleigh, Geiger led a very successful prep program at Bradenton (Fla.) High School. A graduate of Kent State University, he was a three-time letterwinner in track and cross country, and majored in health education and psychology. Kent State's Varsity K Hall of Fame honored Geiger as the distinguished alumnus in its inductee class of 2008. Geiger is married to the former Betty Springs, one of the finest runners in NC State history. She was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. Seaton, a cross country All-American in 2001 for the the Wolfpack, moved into the assistant coaching position after spending four years as a graduate assistant during which time he earned his master's degree in public administration and continued to compete post-collegiately, which include qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Trials in the marathon. A transfer to NC State, Seaton competed at Virginia Tech for four years where he was a qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the DMR while earning his bachelor's degree in architecture. He continued his success on the cross country course and track after transferring to NC State by earning All-ACC honors in both cross country and track and helped the cross country team to an ACC title and a ninth place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championship in 2001. Seaton also added to the Pack's tradition of academic excellence by earning a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. A native of Richmond, VA, Chris is married to the former Catherine Sadosky, who competed for Virginia Tech in both cross country and track and field.

Tom Wood
Assistant Coach
Wood, Jeff Wood, Phillip Wood, Tom Woodson, Dr. Randy Woolard, Donna Yoshikawa, Tracy Full Staff expand Tom Wood enters his 25th year as an assistant coach with the NC State track and field teams, working with the multi-event athletes and throwers. Since he has been at NC State, the Wolfpack's throwers have risen to a high level of prominence in the ACC and at the national level. During the 2013 indoor season, Wood unleashed two extremely successful young products in the women's throws in Tremanisha Taylor and Nicole Chavis. Taylor claimed the ACC title in the women's shot put with an indoor program-record of 53 feet and seven inches. Chavis earned All-ACC honors in the women's weight throw with a third place showing, and broke the school record in the event with a 64' 8.50" measurement. Wood produced NCAA East Regional qualifiers in Nathaniel Williams, Grant Pearce and Jule Rich in the men's discus, Taylor in the women's shot put and SeQuoia Watkins in the women's discus during the outdoor season. Taylor earned second-team All-America honors in the women's shot put, and Nathaniel Williams also earned second team All-America recognition in the men's discus at the NCAA Championships. Taylor andWatkins also earned All-ACC honors in the women's shot put and discus throws, respectively. In the 2014 outdoor season, Wood produced the first woman in program history to earn All-American honors in the discus. Her 10th place finish at the NCAA Championships was the highest finish ever by an NC State student-athlete in the discus and the first top-10 finish in the event for the Pack at the championship. Wood helped Mitchell Pope earn All-America honors in the indoor shot put in 2006 and 2007 and the outdoor shot put in 2007. Even more impressive was Pope's second place finish at the NCAA championships in the outdoor shot put. He also coached James Rowell, who won the 2003 ACC championship in the weight throw and the discus at the 2004 ACC championships. On the women's side, Wood has coached Lawanda Henry to four school records and multiple ACC championships in her first three seasons. In 2010, Henry was a two-time ACC champion, winning the weight throw during the indoor season and the shot put during the outdoor season. She also won All-ACC honors in the indoor shot put during an injury-plagued 2011 campaign. Wood's previous top pupil before Henry, Kelly Smoke, broke all the school records in every throw but the javelin. NC State won four straight ACC championships in the weight throw, beginning in 1997 with John Patterson and John Williamson winning back-to-back conference titles, followed by Isaiah Oglesby capturing the next two in a row. Wood also helped Oglesby earn All-American honors in the hammer throw and an ACC championship in the hammer throw, setting new school records in both the hammer and weights in the process. Prior to coming to NC State, Wood served two years as a graduate assistant strength coach at the University of Virginia. He also coached track and field at Amelia High School in Amelia, Va., for 10 years, guiding his women's team to three straight state championships. His athletes won 11 national titles. Wood coached former UNC All-American Sharon Couch in 1992 to a berth on the U.S. Olympic Team and former Wolfpack standout Chris Corcoran in the javelin to a spot on the USA Junior National team. A former all-star prep performer from Bedford, Va., in both track and football, Wood was an all-conference selection at Ferrum Junior College. Out-of-State Recruits to use, Email for A. Chris Coleman
Assistant Coach
Coleman is entering his eighth season with the NC State track and field team. Coleman, a former NCAA Division II All-American at St. Augustine's College and a member of the Division II Hall of Fame, coaches the Wolfpack's sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers. In the 2014 season Coleman coached Jonathan Addison to the individual champion title in the long jump at the ACC Outdoor Championships, which earned him a spot on the 2014 All-ACC Outdoor team and his personal-best jump of 25'04.75" in the NCAA East Regional earned him a ticket to the Outdoor NCAA Championships. Coleman produced perhaps the greatest single-season performer in the women's horizontal jumps in not only NC State, but ACC history as well in Karimah Shepherd in 2013. Shepherd earned four combined All-America nods (two indoor and two outdoor) in the women's long jump and triple jumps between both seasons, was named the 2013 ACC Outdoor Field Performer of the Year, and the South Region's Field Athlete of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Shepherd broke the school record in the women's long jump with a 21-foot and two-inch (6.45m) leap, en route to winning the ACC indoor crown in the event. After claiming the women's triple jump title at the ACC Indoor Championships, Shepherd was named the ACC Indoor Championships' Field MVP.
