Ashley Phillips

Head Coach

Phillips was named the fourth head coach in Northeastern women's soccer history on March 2, 2016. Phillips previously served as an assistant coach at NU from 2010-15, before being promoted to associate head coach in 2015 and interim head coach in 2016.  Phillips is heavily involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, team training, scouting, conditioning and goalkeeper development.  Phillips played professionally for several teams, including the Boston Breakers from 2009-13. Phillips previously competed for the Boston Aztecs of the Women's Premier Soccer League (2009) and spent six years playing in the W-League for the Boston Renegades (2002-06) and the Atlanta Silverbacks (2008). During her spell with Atlanta, Phillips went undefeated as the team's starting keeper and recorded five shutouts in six games. Phillips has also competed for various U.S. national teams since she was 16. Phillips started all four years as a goalkeeper at Clemson (2004-07) and holds the program record for most career saves with 326, including a single-season best 119 stops in 2006. The Peabody, Massachusetts, native was named third-team All-America in 2006 and was a three-time All-Southeast Region and three-time All-ACC selection (first team in 2007). She ended her career with a 1.09 goals against average and 22 shutouts and helped lead the Tigers to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Womens Soccer Championship in 2006. She graduated from Clemson with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in December 2008. Phillips was also a high school soccer star at Milton Academy and on the club soccer circuit. She was the 2003 Gatorade Massachusetts High School Player of the Year and earned numerous All-America team honors.
