John Kyle
Assistant Coach
Kyle has served as an assistant coach at Northern Michigan University under his brother, Walt, since 2002. "Junior's" primary responsibilities are off-ice operations and administration, and his on ice duties are working with the Wildcat defensemen. Kyle earned four letters as a Wildcat defenseman from 1977-81, playing in 107 games and posting nine assists. He was part of Northern Michigans 1980 and 81 squads that won the Central Collegiate Hockey Associations regular and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Championship. The 1980 squad (34-5-1, 17-3-0 CCHA) finished as the national runner-up and the 81 team (27- 14-3, 18-4-0 CCHA) was fourth. John and Walt were the first brother combination in Northern Michigan hockey history. Kyle, a Waterloo, Iowa, native, was selected to the 1977 National Junior Team and was a member of the Austin Mavericks of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 1975-77. He was the captain of the Mavericks during the 1976-77 season. Following his graduation from Northern Michigan in 1982 with a bachelors degree in geography/earth science, he played professional hockey for two years in Dingolfing, Germany. For the past 15 years, he has held various business and management positions in the Marquette area and has been involved with the Marquette Junior Hockey Association. Kyles hobbies include deer, turkey and partridge hunting. He also enjoys fishing and building projects. Kyle and his wife, Jane, have two children, John Jr. and Ella.

Rob Lehtinen
Assistant Coach
Lehtinen enters his third season as an assistant coach at Northern Michigan University in 2016-17. Lehtinen previously served as the hockey operations manager at Northern Michigan for four seasons. Lehtinen lettered for four years with the Wildcats from 2003-07. He appeared in 156 games, scoring 17 goals and recording 38 assists. Lehtinen played a season with the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs and three seasons with the Central Hockey League's Arizona Sundogs. The Sundogs won the 2008 Ray Miron President's Cup title. Lehtinen resides in Marquette with his wife Angela, daughter Stella and son Luc.

Phil Fox
Coach
Fox is in his third season as the hockey operations manager at Northern Michigan. Fox played for the team from 2007-2011. He was a three-year captain and recorded 65 points (40g-25a). With 155 games under his belt, he ranks 21st in Northern Michigan history. After graduating from Northern Michigan, Fox went on to play for the Central Hockey League's Texas Brahmas. During his rookie season, he scored 43 points (19g-24a) and posted a +11 rating in 59 games. The next year, he played in 44 games and notched 34 points (21g-13a). The Brahmas made the playoffs that year, and he notched three goals in nine postseason games. After spending a little time with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros, Fox returned to the CHL and played 39 games for the Allen Americans, scoring 24 points (12g-12a). The Americans won the Ray Miron President's Cup for the second-straight year. It marked just the third time in CHL history that a team had won back-to-back league titles.
