Rob Hill

Head Coach

Hill was named the NJCAA Region IX Coach of the Year in 2010 and Co-Coach of the Year in 2011. Originally from England, where he had the privilege of playing for some top coaches having been picked for several representative sides, Leeds United School of Excellence, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley A.F.C before being released at the age of 19. Hill then went on to have stints at two semi professional teams before pursuing a career in coaching and education. Hill was brought to Cody, WY in 2000 through Major League Soccer Camps to develop and implement a soccer program at both the youth and high school levels. It didn't take long for him to turn Cody into a soccer powerhouse in the state. In the ten years he's been in Park County, Hill has fielded six state championship teams, four in U.S. Youth Soccer and two at the high school level. Add to that four conference titles and one regional title. His 2008-09 high school team set the state record for 104 goals (while conceding only 9 the entire season). His Broncs surrendered only once during last two seasons to post a two-year cumulative 33-1-1 record. Bronc boosters need look no further than the CHS gym to see proof of Hill's coaching success - every soccer banner hanging there was won under his leadership. In 2008 his Bronc's were ranked #5 in the nation in the NSCAA National High School Poll. Hill's success as a coach as seen him travel throughout the United States competing in four Region IV championships including Hawaii, Utah, Spokane and Denver. Hill has also coached in Florida at the 3 v 3 National championships and in Las Vegas as the ODP U-18 coach at the Regional Championships. Asked about why his teams have been successful Hill stated, "I have very high expectations of myself and the players. I study and observe the players and the game; I refine their technique and push them out of their comfort zone to develop them to the next level and beyond. Every training session is carefully planned and executed to create an extremely competitive environment; I like my players to have heart and to understand what it means to truly compete and I create an environment that brings that out of them. I train the players to be thinkers, all the sessions that they take part in involve solving problems and making tactical decisions, I challenge them in situations in which they have to work under pressure, they have to think quickly, and play quickly they are put under the stresses of the game so they are fully prepared for the task that they face. One of the biggest reasons I would say is that I make it fun, it is all for nothing if it isn't enjoyable. I try to have good relationships with all the players, I get to know them on a personal level and I like to have fun with them. I have a real emphasis on team work and looking after each other on and off the field, it's not all about the soccer, how we develop those relationships is a key factor in success". Hill holds a Dual Major Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and History and the NSCAA Premier Diploma, he is the NSCAA State Technical Coordinator for Wyoming, conducting all the NSCAA non-residential coaching courses for the state, Hill also serves as a staff coach on the Olympic Development Program for Wyoming. Rob Hill is in his third year as Head Coach of the Men's soccer program at Northwest College. In his first season the team was Region IX Runner-up and Region IX Champions in 2011 posting a 15-5-2 record and gained National Ranking.
