Beth Wilmeth
Head Coach
Wilmeth, head volleyball coach and assistant athletic director for NCAA compliance, took leadership of the Northwestern volleyball program prior to the 2004 season. In 12 years at Northwestern, Wilmeth has led the Eagles to nine Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championships, taking the Eagles to six consecutive NCAA Tournaments in 2010-2015. Most recently, Wilmeth guided UNW to its first-ever NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2015, as the Eagles defeated top-seeded Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wartburg to advance to the regional final. Wilmeth has also led Northwestern to four appearances in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championship tournament. Wilmeth's 2008 squad owns the most wins in a season in school history after finishing the season with a 30-7 record. A five-time UMAC Coach of the Year, Wilmeth's program has produced nine NCCAA and NCAA/AVCA All-Americans, six UMAC Players of the Year, 58 all-conference awards and 65 academic all-conference awards. Originally from Kalispell, Mont., Wilmeth was the assistant coach for Northwestern in 2003 after having played for the Eagles during her junior and senior campaigns in 2000 and 2001. A captain during her playing days at Northwestern, Coach Wilmeth collected all-conference and Academic All-American honors while leading the Eagles to the conference championship and a NAIA regional play-off appearance in 2001. She was a part of two of Northwestern's best seasons, including the Eagles' 19-match win streak in 2001. In addition to her volleyball duties, Wilmeth, who is the institution's senior woman administrator, oversees all NCAA compliance at Northwestern, including student-athlete orientation, transfer processing, hardship waivers and recruiting education. She has been a featured speaker across the country on multiple occasions, focusing on compliance education, transitioning an athletics program from the NAIA to the NCAA Division III and the volleyball team's practice of honor calls throughout the season. Wilmeth was recognized for her high character in 2016, as she was named the NCCAA Game Plan 4 LIFE Female Staff Award winner. Wilmeth came to Northwestern after teaching Language Arts at Chaska (Minn.) Middle School East and at Marshall (Texas) Junior High. Wilmeth earned her master's degree in sports management from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She resides in Roseville, Minn., with her husband Eric, an assistant football coach and professor at Northwestern, and their three children, Jeriah, Elias and Jadyn.
