Michael Caris
Assistant Coach
With a rich background in the golf industry, Michael Caris comes to NDC as the Assistant Golf Coach and Director of Recruiting. He has established himself as a dedicated and accomplished coach over the past 15 years in the golfing world. Michael's coaching journey includes a significant role as the Director of Golf at Five Iron Golf in Cleveland, where he led the initial build-out and opening of the facility. As the Lead Teaching Professional, he managed golf operations, including facilities, golf bay maintenance, and overseeing all on-site golf professionals. Prior to his current roles, Michael served as the Assistant Golf Coach at John Carroll University, where he oversaw the Women's golf department, contributing to the overall success of the program. His coaching experience extends to being the Head Golf Professional at 1899 Social Club in Shaker Heights, OH, where he played a key role in the initial build-out and opening of the facility. In this capacity, he managed facilities and staff, oversaw golf bay maintenance, and led the teaching professionals. Michael Caris holds a degree from the Professional Golfers Career College, and he is a current Associate Professional with the PGA of America. He is also certified by Sportsbox 3D Biomechanics, Trackman University (Level 2), and Golf Digest as a Certified Teaching Professional. With a passion for golf and a wealth of experience, Michael Caris brings a dynamic and knowledgeable approach to coaching, contributing significantly to the development of players at various levels.

Jimmy Hanlin

Hanlin joined the Notre Dame Athletics family in March 2011. Hanlin spent some time on several mini-pro circuits, including the Hooters Tour, PowerBilt Tour, Tarheel Tour, PGA Tour and Nike Tour Monday Qualifiers. Hanlin earned business degree from Methodist University in North Carolina. The Steubenville, Ohio, native owns three golf courses in Northeast Ohio (Stonewater Golf Club, Little Mountain Country Club and Cumberland Trail Golf Club). The highly regarded PGA golf pro also has his own show on FOX Sports, "18 Holes with Jimmy Hanlin." A two-time Emmy winner for his previous television work, Jimmy now takes viewers along as he visits some of the most exclusive resort golf courses - both in the U.S. and abroad - to play all 18 holes with co-host Carling Nolan. Jimmy is also the host of the ESPN radio talk show, "The Northern Ohio PGA Golf Show" on 850 WKNR and has provided "Golf Tips" for WKYC-Channel 3 and WJW-Fox 8. Additionally, Jimmy has been featured in PGA Magazine, Golfer's Edge Magazine, Ohio's Golf Magazine, The Cleveland Golfer's Bible, Crain's Cleveland Business and The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Hanlin currently resides in Concord, Ohio with his wife Audrey and sons Hogan and Palmer. The highly regarded PGA golf pro also has his own show on FOX Sports, "18 Holes with Jimmy Hanlin."

Colleen Groomes
Coach
Groomes was named Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Golf programs prior to the 2015-16 academic year, after spending the previous two seasons as the Head Womens Golf coach. Groomes joined the NDC coaching staff in August, 2011 as an Assistant Coach for the Mens and Womens Golf Teams. Prior to coming to NDC, Groomes had a very successful collegiate career at Otterbein College. In her second year as the Head Coach of the Women's Team, the Falcons captured their first Mountain East Conference Tournament Championship in October 2014, and in her first year at the helm of both the men's and women's teams, she coached NDC's first MEC Individual Medalist, Brian Bir, who won the 2015 MEC Tournament. In her first year as the Head Coach of the Women's Team, the Falcons finished second at the Mountain East Conference Tournament, and came away with two tournament titles, the St. Vincent College Lady Bearcat Invitational and the Ursuline Ice Cup Challenge. In addition, two student athletes were named the Women's Golf Coaches Association Academic All American Scholars. Groomes was named the MEC Coach of the Year, while three Falcons earned All MEC honors, including Brianna Stokes, who was named the MEC Freshman of the Year. While at Otterbein, the Elyria, Ohio, native was a member of four straight Ohio Athletic Conference championship teams, 25 team tournament wins, and eight individual medalist titles. Groomes was a four time all OAC selection, three-time Academic All OAC selection, three-time National Golf Coaches Association All American Scholar, the 2005 OAC Player of the year, and 2006 OAC Clyde Lamb Award Winner. Groomes graduated from Otterbein in 2006 with a B.A. in Organizational Communication, and is currently working on her M.Ed. She resides in South Euclid, Ohio.
