Jeff Aumend
Head Coach
Aumend started that program and, four years later, the Yellow Jackets were 36-14 and 2-2 in the NCAA Tournament. They knocked the #2 and #10 teams, nationally, out of the tournament. Considered by some as an offensive-minded coach, Aumend's 2005 MSU-Billings team hit 52 home runs in 50 games. In 1997, Queens University was 4th in the nation in batting average. But he believes that team defense and disciplined pitching are a part of his repertoire, also. "Obviously, I love offense and to work with hitters," shared Aumend. "But, my former players will share that we worked very, very hard on becoming the best "team defense" in our league. And, our pitching has been dominant in some years and effective in others. While at Division I Charleston Southern, we had an upstart pitcher throw a no-hitter against Virginia Tech, the same year they went to Oklahoma City and the College World Series. My best friend tells me that offense sells tickets but defense and pitching wins championships!" Having spent the past few years as a high school athletic director at Lenawee Christian School and Dorchester Academy, he returned to coaching on the diamond. "Once a coach, always a coach," said Aumend. "My former players, friends and family have been tugging on me to return to coaching as it seems to be a gift. My long-term goals are to be in college administration either in Athletics, Admissions or Alumni Relations. So, A.D. work made sense. Most importantly, I want to work and serve in Christian Education."
