Johnathan Ray
Head Coach
Johnathan Ray enters his sixth season with Oberlin in 2025-26 after joining the Yeomen baseball program as the lead assistant coach in January of 2021 before being promoted to head coach in July of 2022. Ray has produced six All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) recipients while at Oberlin. In the classroom, the Yeomen have tallied 66 NCAC All-Academic selections, 14 College Sports Communicators All-District honorees, and four consecutive American Baseball Association Team Academic Excellence awards under Ray’s direction. Ray came to Oberlin after spending seven seasons as an assistant coach at Capital University. During his time with the Crusaders, Ray mentored 10 All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections and two College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District selections. In his first season in Bexley, Ray helped Nate Campbell earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors following a season in which he batted .292 with four extra-base hits, seven RBIs, and stole 10-of-15 bases. In addition to his work with the baseball program, Ray taught multiple courses at Capital and served as a substitute teacher in the Columbus area. Furthermore, he has been the head coach for the Upper Arlington Junior Baseball Association since 2018. A four-year letterman at Wooster, Ray was the Scots’ team captain in 2013. A 2012 All-NCAC First-Team selection, Ray won three NCAC titles at Wooster before graduating with a bachelor's degree in history. Ty Schuch
Assistant Coach
Ty Schuch enters his fourth season as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Oberlin College baseball team in 2026. Since his arrival, the pitching staff has produced three of the top five single-season strikeout totals in school history, finishing 3rd (2024), 4th (2023), and 5th all-time (2025). Additionally, the 2024 and 2025 pitching staff ranks 4th and 5th all-time, respectively, in single-season WHIP. In 2024, the pitching staff recorded a program record 16 strikeouts in a single game against The College of Wooster. Schuch coached Jay Aghanya, who ranks 3rd all-time in single-season ERA (2024) and 1st all-time in single-season batting average against (2024). Additionally, he is tied for 1st all-time for single-game strikeouts (13). Schuch has also mentored Calvin Burkholder, who ranks 2nd all-time in career shutouts and earned All-NCAC Third-Team honors in 2025. Prior to Oberlin, served as an assistant coach for two seasons at Allegheny College, helping the Gators record 39 total wins, including a 24-15 mark in 2022. At his alma mater, he spent two seasons (2018-19) on the College of Wooster's coaching staff, where he aided in two more conference crowns and a trip to the NCAA Division III College World Series. Schuch has also coached travel baseball in the summer in the Ohio Elite organization. A two-way player at Wooster, Schuch helped the Scots secure two NCAC Championships. On the mound, Schuch went 16-5 over 35 career appearances and 25 starts with the Scots, striking out 74 over 140.1 innings. In his junior and senior years, he combined to go 14-2 while posting a 3.87 ERA. At the plate, he produced 43 career hits in 151 at-bats with 14 doubles. Schuch graduated from The College of Wooster in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies and a minor in Africana Studies.

Coach
Tyler Schuch joined Oberlin College in the fall of 2022. He is the assistant coach, recruiting coordinator, and pitching coach. Prior to Oberlin, he was apart of the Allegheny baseball program as an assistant coach beginning in October 2020.During his tenure there, his pitching staff set the single season strikeout record in the spring of 2022. Additionally, he helped produce 2 All-NCAC pitchers. Prior to arriving in Meadville, Schuch spent the prior two years with the Ohio Elite Baseball program. He served as head coach of the 17U team while assisting the 16U team. During his stint, he handled both programs social media accounts while also tending to base coaching duties. A 2017 graduate of The College of Wooster, Schuch enjoyed a stellar four-year career as a member of the Fighting Scots baseball program. A letter winner all four years and two-time NCAC champion, he was a utility player seeing time on the mound and in the outfield. Upon graduating from Wooster, Schuch returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 2017-2019 and was a part of a staff that led the program to two more NCAC championships and an appearance in the Division III College World Series.
