Peggy Ewald
Head Coach
Ewald is a Level 4 ASCA certified swimming coach, a level 5 ASCA certified disabled swimming coach and has 21 years of coaching experience working with novice to National Champions. She was one of the Level III (of III levels) coaches on the travel list with the US Paralympic Team. She was the head coach for the US Paralympic team for the 2007 Para Pan Am Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; was the head coach for the 2009 Youth ParaPanAm Games in Bogota, Columbia; was the Team Leader for the 2011 ParaPan Am Games Team in Guadalajara, Mexico; served as an assistant coach for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China, was an Assistant Team Leader for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England and was an assistant coach for sport science at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. She was also with Team USA as Sports Science Specialist for 2013 World championships in Montreal, Canada, 2014 Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championships at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena, Calif. and the 2015 World Championships in Glasglow, Scotland. She served with the non-profit group Dare2Tri out of Chicago, IL for the Annual Paratriathlete Training Camps. Ewald served as the open water swimming coach, 2014 and 2015 for these Training Camps on the Road to Rio in 2016. Ewald was head coach of Tiffin Columbian H.S. from 1997-2004, was head coach of Tiffin Calvert H.S. from 2001-04 where she coached six Ohio High School State placers. She also served as an assistant coach at the University of Findlay from 1997-99. She coached with the Tiffin YMCA swim team and for many years took athletes to the YMCA National level. Ewald was also the founder of the USA Swimming club team Seneca Aquatic Klub team, where she has coached Senior National, US Open and two current members of the US Paralympian Team. She also coached with the USA Swimming FAST age-group swim team in Findlay for five years. The Tiffin, Ohio, native also worked as the Dean of Academic Affairs at AEC-Southern Ohio College in Findlay from 2001-04 and owned and directed the Ohio Institute of Electrology in Tiffin from 1982-2001. She received her B.A. degree in business administration with honors from Tiffin University in 1989 and earned a M.A. in education from Heidelberg College in 1996. Helaina Sacco
Assistant Coach
Sacco worked with all members of the team and helped to run many administrative aspects of both programs. Prior to her stint at Mary Washington, Sacco spent a year as an academic support intern for the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At UAB she provided academic counseling, support services and monitored the academic progress of the womens tennis, womens soccer, and mens tennis teams. Sacco swam for four years for the University of Maine, where she graduated with honors in 2012 with a BA in Sociology. In 2013 she earned her MS degree in the Sociology of Sport from Loughborough University in England. View: | Desktop
