Luis Rincon

Rincon, a former standout goalkeeper and Assistant coach at Texas A&M International University, is wrapping up his second season as head coach for the Fighting Scots. He has posted a career record of 20-15-2 in his two year tenure here in Vienna. He was named the Director of Soccer over the entire soccer program at Ohio Valley University in the summer of 2016. During the 2016 campaign Rincon led the Scots to a program record 11 win season. They finished as runner-up to the regular season champions. Ohio Valley advanced to semifinal round of the 2016 G-MAC Mens Soccer Championships. They finished the season with an overall record of 11-7-1. During the season the Scots put together an impressive five match winning streak and their defense recorded shutouts in six of the eleven wins. After the season an outstanding seven different players received All-G-MAC Honors. Pedro Gonzalez, Fredy Robayo, Nicolas Rodriguez, Christian Galindo, Jeremiah Yondah, Camilo Sarmiento and Carlos Rubio were all named to the All-Conference Second Team. Additionally, Gonzalez, Rodriguez, and Sarmiento were named to the All-Freshman Team. In his first year at the helm Rincon took over a team that gone 0-17 the previous season and allowed a whopping 106 goals as a team. Rincon arrived on campus in March and immediately hit the recruiting trail. He was able to sign 18 new players and successfully change the face of the program. The Scots posted a 9-8-1 record overall which included their first ever berth in the G-MAC Mens Soccer Championships. Five Fighting Scot players received all-conference honors, including Ignacio Gonzalez who was tabbed the Freshman of the Year in the G-MAC. That season also saw the Scots earn a regional ranking and finish third in the G-MAC after being picked to finish last in the preseason. Prior to arriving at Ohio Valley, Rincon served as an assistant coach for the mens and womens soccer teams at Texas A&M International University. While at TAMIU Rincon was instrumental in developing a program that won three conference championships. The Dust devils compiled a 41-20-10 record during Rincons time on staff in Laredo. The 2011 season saw TAMIU rise to as high as 15 in the national rankings and finish the season ranked 19 th . In the summer of 2011, 2012, and 2013, Rincon served as a player development specialist and goal keeper coach with the Eden Prairie Soccer Club in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. In 2013 he also was the Head Mens Soccer Coach for the U18 Eden Prairie Soccer Club. In the 2013 Rincons U18 team finished as the state runner up in their division. Rincons playing career at TAMIU included 12 career wins and an outstanding 1.06 goals against average. He was named Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week four times and concluded his career by earning first-team All-Heartland Conference honors as a senior.  He ended his senior season tied for ninth in the NCAA final statistical rankings with a .857 save percentage. Rincon currently holds the school record of most saves in a season with 108 in 2008. The same year TAMIU established a school-record nine-game winning streak and finished the season with a 9-1-1 mark over its last eleven games. Prior to arriving in the United States, Rincon played for Millonarios, a formal professional club and Colombian National Youth Team. Luis also represented his country in different tournaments including: the Nike Premier Cup under 15 Latin America Chile 1999, Venezuela World Cup under 15 1999, Nike Premier Cup under 15 Latin America Mexico 2000, Venezuela World Cup under 15 2000, and South American tournament under 17 Ecuador 2002. Rincon holds a bachelors in business administration from Warner University and a M.B.A with a concentration in International Business from Texas A&M International University. He also holds a National Diploma license and Advance National Diploma License with the NSCAA. Rincon is married to Giselle Gaytan and currently resides in Vienna, West Virginia.
