Steve Runge
Head Coach
Steve Runge is in his fourth season as director of golf and head coach of the men's and women's golf teams at Ohio Wesleyan University. Last year, the Battling Bishop men finished seventh in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the Bishop women placed fifth. Runge came to Ohio Wesleyan after 8 seasons as head men's coach at the University of Central Arkansas. During his first 4 years at UCA, the Bears improved from 11th place in the Southland Conference tournament to fourth place. He coached 3 Southland Conference Player of the Year selections. Prior to Central Arkansas, Runge was head coach at Clayton (Ga.) State University for 3 seasons. The Lakers improved from an eighth-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference during Runge's first season to a fifth-place showing in the Peach Belt and a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Division II regional tournament during his third season. He coached a Peach Belt Player of the Year and a second-team All-American at Clayton State. Runge served as an instructor at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Fla., from 2007-11 before taking the Clayton State position. He was a professional golfer for 15 years, including 9 years on the Web.com tour, recording victories at the 1997 Utah Open, the 2000 Richmond Open, and the 2001 Panama Open as well as the Montgomery Sports Tour event. He qualified for the Buick Open and the Hardees Classic on the PGA Tour in 1993. He is a 1992 graduate of Ohio State, majoring in education. During his Buckeye career, he was a 3-year letterman under Coach Jim Brown and served as co-captain of the team as a senior in 1992. The Buckeyes won the 1990 Big Ten championship and finished 10th at the NCAA Division I championships. As a junior golfer, Runge was an American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) first-team All-American in 1986. Runge is a native of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Ian Miller
Assistant Coach
Miller returns for his eighth season as men's golf coach at Ohio Wesleyan University. Last season, Ohio Wesleyan placed sixth in the North Coast Athletic Conference championship race. In 2012-13, the Bishops won one tournament, shared the title at another, and finished second in 3 others on the way to their fourth consecutive NCAC runner-up finish. The 2011-12 Bishops won one tournament and finished second in 3 others and finished second in the NCAC title chase. In 2010-11, the Bishops won one tournament and finished second in 4 others and finished second in the NCAC standings. During his first season at Ohio Wesleyan, the Bishops won 3 tournaments, including the season-ending NCAC Invitational, and finished second in the NCAC standings. Miller also serves as the University's director of golf operations, overseeing scheduling and travel schedules for both the Ohio Wesleyan men's and women's golf teams, and assisting in recruiting for the women's team. A Professional Golfers' Association of America professional since 2001, Miller came to Ohio Wesleyan after serving for 3 years as head professional at The Quarry Golf Club in Canton, Ohio. Prior to that, he was assistant professional at Plum Brook Golf Club in Sandusky, Ohio, for 6 years, and began his professional career with a year at The Heritage Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He has been a Class A PGA member since 2004, continuing his education with PGA classes and seminars on the way to a virtual graduate degree in golf. Miller has continued his playing career as well, competing in PGA Professional National Championship events in 2007 and 2009. Miller is a 1999 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan and was an All-America selection in golf in both of his years as a Battling Bishop. His junior year, he reeled off a string of 5 straight top-10 finishes and won first-team All-NCAC honors. He finished 21st at the NCAA Division III tournament and received honorable mention All-America laurels. As a senior, he tied a school record by shooting a 67 at Penn State, becoming the first Ohio Wesleyan player to hit that score in more than 40 years, and went on to finish fourth at the NCAA Division III tournament and earn first-team All-America honors as Ohio Wesleyan tied for eighth place in the national team standings. He began his college career at Kent State University, then transferred to Ohio Wesleyan after 2 years. Miller is a native of Mount Vernon, Ohio. He lives in Delaware with his wife, Ellen; daughter, Lillian; and son, Liam. Cari Cottle
Assistant Coach
Cari Cottle is in her fourth season as assistant men's and women's golf coach at Ohio Wesleyan University. Cottle came to Ohio Wesleyan after a stellar coaching career at the high school level. She was girls varsity golf coach at Olentangy Orange High School for 6 years, guiding the Pioneers to 2 state championships, a state runner-up finish, and a fifth-place finish, along with 2 district titles and 5 conference championships. Cottle was named Golf Coach of the year for Ohio and the Mideast section in 2017-18, and received District Coach of the Year recognition in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Prior to Olentangy Orange, Cottle was girls middle school golf coach at Worthington Kilbourne High School for 2 seasons. She coached softball for 9 years at Olentangy Liberty High School, with 5 seasons as junior varsity coach, 2 seasons as an assistant coach, and 2 seasons as head coach. Cottle is a 2010 graduate of the University of Dayton, majoring in exercise science and fitness management. She was a member of the Flyer women's golf team for 4 years. She is a native of Columbus and attended Worthington Kilbourne High School.
