Joshua Byerly

Assistant Coach

Joshua Byerly is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Ohio Wesleyan men's and women"s tennis teams. Byerly brings more than a decade of coaching experience to the Battling Bishop staff.  He has worked with players of all ages and levels across Ohio.  Byerly has a passion for teaching technique, strategy, and helping players maximize their strengths.  He has served as a senior tennis professional at New Albany Country Club since 2018. In addition to coaching the Bishops, Josh works as a librarian at Ohio Wesleyan. Byerly played collegiate tennis at Ohio Dominican University from 2012 to 2015.  He continued his education with a Master of Arts in History degree from the University of Toledo and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University. He is a native of Delaware, Ohio.

Jason Homorody

Assistant Coach

Jason Homorody is in his second season as an assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.  He coaches fundamentals, mechanics, technique, and game strategy. Homorody also serves an instructor at Elysium Tennis, where he has worked for the last 16 years, and also is the Tennis Director at Kinsale Golf & Fitness, where he has worked for the past 5 years. Homorody is a 1996 graduate of The Ohio State University.  As a Buckeye, he was named All-Big Ten both athletically and academically, and was selected as the men's tennis team's Most Valuable Player in 1995.  He continued his playing career after graduating, winning 9 national doubles titles, including 8 with his late father Peter, who was a member of the Ohio Wesleyan coaching staff for 3 years.  Jason and Peter Homorody won the Golden Slam in 2018, winning all the national doubles titles that year. He is a native of Columbus, where he attended Bishop Watterson High School, winning a pair of state doubles titles and helping the team win a state championship.

Adrian Tolentino

Adrian Tolentino, head boys tennis coach at Olentangy Liberty High School and head girls tennis coach at Hilliard Davidson High School for 6 years, has been named director of tennis at Ohio Wesleyan University, it was announced by athletics director Doug Zipp. "I'm excited to be here," Tolentino said.  "It's an incredible opportunity to develop the program and the players.  We'll look to focus on player development and human development throughout their careers at Ohio Wesleyan.  I'd like to thank Doug Zipp, the committee, and the teams for giving me the opportunity to be the director of tennis." "We are thrilled to welcome Adrian as our new director of tennis," Zipp said.  "His energy and thoughtful leadership bring a fresh and promising direction for our program.  Throughout the interview process, Adrian consistently demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for the holistic development of our tennis student-athletes, both on and off the court.  He joins us with a wealth of experience and a strong track record of success as a head coach in the Central Ohio high school tennis scene.  His background will be a tremendous asset to our program, both in competition and recruitment." Tolentino was boys tennis head coach at Liberty High School for 6 years.  His first season at Liberty was canceled because of COVID-19, but after that, Tolentino enjoyed remarkable success, guiding the Patriots to a pair of OCC division championships, qualifying either a singles player, a doubles team, or both to the state tournament in each of his 5 seasons, and receiving 3 Ohio Capital Conference - Central Division Coach of the Year citations.  He posted a 74-21 record at Liberty. He also served as the girls tennis head coach at Davidson High School for 6 seasons.  He was named OCC - Central Coach of the Year in 2023 and guided a doubles team to a state tournament appearance, the Wildcats' first state qualifier in 20 years.  Tolentino compiled a 53-40 record at Davidson. Tolentino has additional coaching experience as head tennis coach at Jones Middle School in Upper Arlington and as a racquet and paddle professional at Brookside Golf and Country Club in Columbus. He is a 2015 graduate of Capital University, majoring in marketing.  He played tennis for the Crusaders for 2 seasons. Tolentino is a native of Orrville, Ohio.
